So whenever I bend me right knee to squat or get up off the floor, if I'm not really careful about the way I get up, my knee sort of feels like the joint is sliding over to one side and it pops, and now my knee is all achey. Anyone have this problem? Any tips or advice on how to avoid this (apart from just trying to take it easy and ease off of it a little)? Am I just getting old and this is a new thing now? I don't care for this, and it's really going to interfere with my plans to start running again this month.
I plan to talk to my doc about it next month at my yearly exam, but I figured I would ask here in the meantime.

I don't have that exact problem, but I do get weird and achy knee stuff. For me I figure it's my age and weight. One thing that helped tremendously was finding new shoes. I read this article about shoes for runners (even though I don't run now that my children are too old to chase), and finding out the right shoe for your foot type. I just found the link and am including it. Maybe it can help.
My knee does this, my doctor told me the best thing to do is strengthen your quadricep muscles because they can hold the kneecap in place when the tendons and ligaments aren't doing the job. I also have a knee brace that helps minimize the movement

Sounds like it could be a problem with your patella not tracking properly. If so a physical therapist or a physiatrist should be able to show you exercises to strengthen your quad correctly. I believe doing quad exercises the wrong way can make it worse. I think a physiatrist is a great place to start for a diagnosis.
