Who would you prefer as the democratic nominee for the 2016 Presidential Election?
I'm Pro-Bernie in the situation, because of the little things: Sanders points out that between him and Clinton, he's the one that wants a $15.00 minimum wage, that between him and Clinton, he's the one who wants to break up the big banks, that between him and Clinton, he's the one who wants to end The Trans-Pacific Partnership, that between him and Clinton, he's the one who is against The Keystone Pipeline, that between him and Clinton, he's the one who wants to expand social security instead of detract from it.
If Clinton wins the nomination, you can bet I'd still vote for her, but personally, I'm doing more of a Smooth Criminal lean toward Bernie right now.
Clarify your question. I love Bernie (and I tried really hard not to, cause I don't want my heart broken), and it would be the awesomest thing ever if he were President, but he's not electable in a national election. Hillary is. Anyone who cares about future SCOTUS appointments would vote for whichever nominee can get elected.
Do you want to know which candidate we like more, or which candidate we hope gets the nomination?

If you were the only vote that mattered, which means whichever person you vote for is the person that is representing The Democratic Party in the 2016 Presidential Election, who would you vote for?

Clinton.
I actually agree with Bernie on more issues, but I'm kind of over voting for old white men.
I'm not saying I'll vote for anyone with a vagina, but it's be difficult to convince me to vote for a guy if there's a woman I don't find politically repugnant available.

But this isn't a Donald Trump type of old white man, this is an old white man that actually cares about the young and the old, women and minorities too. If you agree with him on more issues, then vote for him since his has your preference on the issues.

This is something that's really changed for me since having my daughter.
I remember hearing from some black folks after Obama was elected that they felt it was the first time they felt like they really could tell their kids they could be anything they wanted.
I want my daughter to grow up only knowing a United States with a female President (assuming Clinton serves 8 years, my daughter will be almost 11 when she leaves office).
ETA: or put a different way, I have faith we'll elect a woman during her lifetime. I don't want her to be old enough to know that it's historic when it happens.

Yeah, I get you there. I'm more of an Elizabeth Warren guy when it comes to who I'd want as the first female president, but if that's your reasoning for choosing Clinton, I completely understand.
Clinton. Something about Sanders rubs me the wrong way. I'd vote for him if I had to in the general but I'm not excited about him. I dislike how he ties everything to economic equality. I think it's simplistic and shows his privilege as a white, successful male.
Clinton, mostly because I feel like she has a much better chance of winning the general than Sanders. I mean Obama isn't even a socialist and the crazies rip him apart, I can only imagine what they would do with a real socialist. But there is also something off-putting about Sanders to me. I should do some more research, but my (probably misguided) impression is like the kid running for school president who promises more recess time and chocolate bars for everyone. It's great and all, and I love chocolate, but I don't see it actually happening.

I like Sanders on a lot of the issues. A lot. But he won't win a general; no way, no how. I'm voting for the one who can beat Bush/Rubio/Trump/whomever.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I like Bernie's politics, but I have no problems with Hillary and all things being close to equal (IMO), the scale tips to the woman.

I like them both, but I think Clinton has the better shot if she's the candidate. If it were simply my vote deciding on who would be President, I'd seriously consider Sanders, but if it's just who gets the Democratic nod, then I vote Clinton all the way. SCOTUS is too important to consider someone who is a more risky candidate.
I voted for Clinton before; but I just don't feel it for her anymore. She's too close to the corporations. She was going to be the old "lesser of two evils", but I'm actually getting excited about Sanders. Who do I want? Bernie - hands down. Would I vote for Hillary if need be? Probably-maybe?
IDK I can't find it now, but I remember reading that the GOP actually *want* her to be the Dem nod, because they would have a better chance of tanking her.

Well the GOP is oftentimes delusional and they ignore polls but polls have her beating all the GOP candidates,
I'm also sick of voting for old white men and am excited about the idea of someone who looks "like me" (to some extent) becoming president. I did one of those quizzes that tells you how you align with the different candidates. According to that, I align 92% with Bernie and 75% with Hillary. To me, aligning 75% with a viable at the national level candidate is pretty impressive. Plus I supported her the last time.
I agree Bernie might be a long shot - but I am surprised at how many in this thread are like "He can't win". I mean, does anyone remember how Obama couldn't win? He just couldn't. No way. Nope.
BBBLLLAAAAMMMMMMMO! lol
I know they are not the same, but still, I think the "he can't win" thing is no longer on the cards. I think Donald could win too (shudders) because it could happen. People were very tired of politics when Obama got in, they are even more fed up now. I actually think that both Bush and Clinton may suffer from their names. Maybe not enough to do damage, but still.

The the difference, and this is key, is that Obama brought out the black vote, and white vote, and others. Bernie has the white vote. Comparing Bernie to Obama is a mistake.
