Have you tried The Avenue? My co-worker shops there and she always looks cute! They have some pretty tops
You have to be careful with The Avenue, after awhile all their stuff starts to look the same. I have an aunt who shops there exclusively and its like she owns the same shirt in 14 different prints.
But as along as you diversify they are a great resource for clothes, especially work clothes. When I wore plus size I had good luck at JcPenney. But my experience has been that not all JCP carries all their cute plus sized clothes.
But it did feel like I was always shopping to find cute stuff. And the closet Nordstroms did not carry cute stuff. At all.

I see nothing wrong with this.
I have the same Banana Republic Factory Store tunic dress in about as many prints.
I have had good luck buying PS from: -Target--this year they came out with a new plus size line and I have gotten some really cute skirts, dresses, and work tops from there
-JCP--as someone mentioned above, each store probably carries different things, but I have been pleasantly surprised at their selection. My store's PS section is basically as large as the regular section of clothes, which hardly ever happens anywhere.
-ModCloth--It is online-only (for now), but if you read reviews and go by their size chart, it usually works out well. I know some of their stuff is odd looking, but I have gotten a lot of basic things there too, like cardigans and tops that look totally normal.
-Dress Barn--My store actually has more regular clothes in it for PS than dresses. I have liked their jeans and some of their casual tops/sweaters/jackets. Their prices are usually pretty reasonable. I just bought a nice cocktail dress through them for a wedding and it was 50 bucks not on sale.
Also, why the fuck are the fabrics the worst. No this weird polyester blend isn't going to lay over my fat in such a way to make me look like a size 2 and it will also make my fat ass sweat like crazy. Ugh I hate it.
I have been actually having luck at the gap outlet. I am like an 18 and they don't have true plus sizes but their factory stuff goes up to xxl which fits me pretty well usually.

I do the majority of my PS shopping online at Maurices. They often have BOGO 1/2 off sales, which is nice. I'm really bottom heavy and I LOVE their denim flex line of jeans.
ETA: The top and jacket I'm wearing in my avatar are from Maurices.
Our rack store usually doesn't have anything but I just checked the rack online... now I need to weed out my cart 'cause I liked a lot of stuff and loved the prices.
What I'm realizing reading through this is I have to shop at all of these stores and find the one or two decent pieces. All of them have some pretty awful pieces.

Check out Torrid for some things. It's definitely younger, although you have to check that there aren't hidden skulls in everything. Lol. They always have some sale gimmick.
Also, I really really like Macy's for plus size. They have a lot of good stuff. I go to the app and tend to sort by price, lowest first. You'll have to dig through some stuff that's ugly but lots of cute stuff too. I bought some great deals recently and they also have a lot of coupons through the star pass (plus ebates too!)
I also buy from Lane Bryant but yes, some clothes are really ugly. Some are super adorable. I especially like the bras, workout clothes and pants. I also bought some bathing suits.
My Torrid jeans are MY LIFE. Seriously. They have the cutest stuff. PLUS little jackets to wear over stuff that don't make me feel like the incredible hulk when I put them on.
I am one of those people that straddles the line between straight and " plus" sizes. I take a 12 in Torrid right now ( although I lost some weight and they are getting a little baggie) but I can't find stuff that fits in LB even though I am NOT slim.
It's frustrating. I need a store called 10-12-14 that sells stuff that fucking fits me and only me. Like giant bras and AE jeggings in 12 but Torrid pants in a 10 ( that doesn't exist ) and other pants in a 14.
I hate that. and they will have holes cut in the arms, like that's the only place fat people can show that's not offensive to anybody. when I look at plus size clothes I feel like whoever made it was thinking "kill yourself, fattie."
Most department stores have nice plus size clothes but you have to find the locations that cater to plus sized women. My last professional outfit came from Sears but I visited dozens of department stores before I found the right one. During these outings I found some nice casual clothes at Burlington Coat Factory.
I have also bought some tops and dresses from Avon. This only works if you are patient because there are only a few pieces per cycle (2 weeks).
My favorite store for clothes was Dots but unfortunately they have gone out of business. I am still trying to find a place that really caters to plus sized tall women with long legs AND a long torso.
i sometimes frequent PS stores b/c i'm an XL and am sized out of some regular stores. my prob with PS is that the clothes are cut for the average PS person. so, if sizes are 14-24 (or something), the 14 and 16 are cut for someone larger. if i shop at a regulr store, and things run 0-16, then the 14 and16 are cut for someone that is like, a 6 or 8.
i have had a dream about starting my own clothing line for people sized 10-20. the middles. with cuts that flatter someone who is in the middle. not super tent like and not super tight/narrow.
and i would not use polyester. and i would not make everything black with some coloured ridiculous pattern.
I think we want to start the same store. Partners?

YES. I have a Valerie Burtinelli ( SHUT UP ) dress in a size 10 with the arm cut outs that I get TONS of compliments on. But then like 3 years ago all plus sized tops started looking like THIS
Like we all want to show off that sliver of skin at all times. It's fucking stupid. And COLD in New England after like October.
I have 1 pair of black pants from there and they are amazing. Everything else scares me. I want a new pair of the exact same pants but I don't think they sell the style anymore. Womp womp.

i bet they sell them with holes and they are also bedazzled.
I'm laughing SO hard right now, because I went to the website and searched for "Tripp" which is the style of pant I own. Yeah, you're exactly right. They sell them now with holes and mesh and lace ups and AHHHHHH!!!!
