it is! it's probably one of the best pictures i've ever had taken in my life, full stop.
i'm not bad looking in person but i'm not terribly photogenic. and it was 40 lbs ago and i don't want to let that go.
Lol! I just can't believe they got one right. Hold onto that for dear life .
in NY you're supposed to be able to reuse the pic a certain number of times (i think it's twice). i REAAALLLLLY hope they can keep it. if not i'm cutting it out and having them tape it on.
I was like 15 months pregnant when I had mine taken. If it didn't cost money, I'd volunteer to get mine taken again.
the one before this i looked like a fat Emo kid. it was awful.
I didn't even gain a ton of weight, but it also was the middle of winter and ass cold so I was on a big sweatshirt, winter coat, scarf, etc. And was at that puffy face stage. I look kind of like I ate myself.
I'm confused by the citizenship part. My driver's license has never been sufficient to prove citizenship for airport immigration. Why would that matter for a domestic flight?
It's not about having to prove residency or citizenship on a domestic flight. I think it's that the requirements to get an ID are considered too lax by federal standards, since you don't have to prove citizenship OR residency. In many/most states you don't have to be a citizen to get a license, but you have to prove you are a resident. So the feds just think it's too easy to fake a NY license, for example, even if you don't live in the state, which is shady.

The sweet little lady working the photo counter at the DMV in Erie country the day I got a NY license let me take like six pictures and choose the best one. Upstate FTW.

I read about this before and forgot to check if my new NY license is okay. I just renewed this year and the license looks very different than the prior edition, so I'm not sure if that means they changed it to be compliant?
I do have a passport and don't mind bringing it with me for travel but it sucks to require a passport for domestic travel if you're in one of these states.

what annoys me the most about this is that I will now have to go renew my passport sooner than I wanted to. It is still in my married name and I know damn well I will screw up last minute and put the tickets in my maiden name and not my married name.
It was also a fantastic picture. I was slim and tan.

Plus a heaping helping of post-9/11 paranoia.
Well yeah. It's all security theater. I doubt it's a real concern.
Given that NYS still uses voting machines produced in the 19th century (ok, so I'm exaggerating, but not by much), it surprises me not at all to learn that they haven't even started the process of rolling out statewide enhanced licenses.

Hey! We got scantrons 5 years ago.
The ONE TIME I didn't vote was 3 days after the boys were born. I brought them the next time and I asked the woman how to use it and she got all high and mighty with "well, I guess SOMEONE didn't bother to vote last year." I had the boys in their stroller with me. G said "my mom was too busy last year having my boy brothers to vote!" The other woman just about died laughing.
I never even use my dl. I use my mil dose is which I'm prety sure doesn't meet the standards, either.
In fact, because I haven't driven in about 8 months my dl may not even be valid. Oops.
Also, bullshit to this
My driver's license was way harder to get and renew than my military ID. Lol.
The person who renewed my military ID didn't even ask to see my POA when I signed for H. He asked if I had one, I said yes and asked if he wanted to see it, and he said, "No, I believe you."

Yeah, I'm far more annoyed with the real id law (which also carries a hearty dose of blah people paranoia imo) than I am with any state legislature for failing to comply with it.
