I think it's part "consider options" and my brain reminding me where I work and to stay aware of my surroundings, if that makes sense.
It does. My last one was a clear indicator that I was feeling burnt out and like I wasn't able to give or do my best at work.
I don't feel burnt out and I enjoy what I do, but there is the looming "bad things could happen here" vibe. There's been assaults on therapists (in my state but not at my institution) and security doesn't exactly make sure nonsecurity staff have adequate safety measures.
See, chalupa! We said it was for a good reason and it was! It sounds like your new gig is a much better place to be!
That sucks, doglove. I hope they get the issue resolved quickly.
It's at least another 2 weeks once the lawyer has proof he was served. Thank god it's not another 6 week wait. I almost lost it yesterday when I first found out.

Yikes! No wonder. That is not a great working environment at all. :\ I don't understand them not making sure you have adequate safety measures.

Money...money is always the issue. They're moving towards having therapists carry radios for added security, but they don't want to provide them to social workers, teachers, nurses, etc. Most of the time, I don't worry about it, but we're having an increase of assaults and more and more significantly mentally ill people coming in.
I get sinus infections and I always end up needing antibiotics to clear them, but I have to wait also. I hate it but I do it. So bullygirl979 I agree with the others about not taking the antibiotics. Especially because they made you sick before.
I wish it was Friday. I had a good date last night, a cop who doesn't carry when he's off duty and prefers to leave work at work.

Of course it is. That's a really shitty position for all of you to be in.
I just finally caved and asked for a radio/walkie because I was the only therapist without one. Sometimes the kids at my work get aggressive towards their therapists, but depending on their size it's generally not quite as dangerous. It seems like we're also getting now severe cases than in the past. What's changed? It seems like there are similar changes we're both seeing lately.

I think for me, there's just not enough mental health services in the communities that people have access to, so we've become mental health facilities, although we're not equipped for them. Society doesn't want these guys unstable in their communities but don't offer to do anything there to help. The system is screwed up.

Oddly enough, my date and I were talking about this kind of thing last night and how broken the system is. I think there needs to be some type of residential facility for severally mentally ill people who need assistance with things like taking their meds, people who can't live alone. Not like institutions of yore, but there has to be something better than "welp, good luck, see you on the streets or in jail."

There was a group home sort of thing that opened in my area for this reason (more crisis focused) but the neighbors went off about it and then they wanted to have it moved since it was "zoned" wrong. I get the concern, but isn't it better to know where people are at vs. them being unaccounted for?
I woke up to the glorious sound of a gentle rain today, I was about to give in and water my lawn, so now I don't have to. However, when I opened the back door to let the pug out, she put the brakes on in her usual dramatic fashion. So I arried her ass out and plopped her down in the grass only to watch her race for the overhang by the door. She is such a hothouse flower.
Picture of the pug please.
Pug's are my dream dog. I have always wanted a male, fawn colored one and his name will be Hugo.
but I have 2 cats that would have heart attacks if I brought a dog into the family.

I know there are a few homes and assisted living facilities for those with mental and physical disabilities, but there aren't enough (because of the reasons you stated, funding, and various other reasons). It's fucked up.
Sorry for all the troubles today. I wish it was Friday too.
I had a great night last night. I cooked dinner in my kitchen! It was slightly a struggle having to use my powder room sink but I made Chicken tortilla soup. It felt so good to have a homemade dinner.

I'm tired. I'm stressed about ds's school situation. I'm way behind at work. I just don't have time for the mental breakdown I deserve, dammit!
Ds's pediatrician is having us meet with a pediatric psychologist for an evaluation. She said he's definitely NOT autistic, may have a touch of ADD but who doesn't, but it sounds like his behavior stems mostly from frustration with school and his teacher.
Hugs doglove I'm sorry you have to wait longer. But I can't wait to see pictures of your new foster!!
I raided the Old Navy fall online sale last week and my packages came in today... I can't decide if I actually want to keep anything I got. A couple of things are great, and everything else is meh. But everything I got was under $5.
I'm thinking I'll return a couple of things so I can justify buying some more nail polish stuff.
There are good things coming out of this, hopefully your outside professionals will help you work through this with the school. From how you've described the teacher I'm not surprised he's been struggling.
