Lamar Odom overdosed on drugs, E! News has learned.
A source inside Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas tells us that "drugs were found in his system," and doctors are treating the situation as an "overdose." Lamar remains unconscious and on a ventilator but is still alive. It also appears that the former Los Angeles Lakers player suffered from a "loss of oxygen but also possible stroke."
"So, likely there's brain damage, but they're not sure how much," the source adds. "Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system."
Lamar appears to have suffered an "ischemic stroke," which is caused by a blood clot preventing blood flow to the brain. This type of stroke is often associated with a cocaine overdose, among other drugs. Our source adds that Lamar "had been partying since Friday."
"He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous," the insider explains. "They're now having to fix all the damage it has done."
Although doctors are treating Lamar's situation as an overdose, it doesn't appear to be a suicide attempt. More likely, the insider explains, it was an accidental overdose. "The long term effects of his drug use have taken a toll on his body and the binge this time was too much to handle," the source says.
Lamar suffered brain damage but isn't brain dead.
Khloé Kardashian's ex-husband was discovered unconscious at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bunny Love Ranch and rushed to a local hospital before being transferred. Kris Jennerwas spotted outside of Sunrise Hospital early this morning, where Khloé remains inside with Lamar. Another source told us that Khloé has been "completely inconsolable and heartbroken" since the news broke, adding that she had been "worried about Lamar for a very long time" despite cutting off contact with him over the summer.
His former teammates have turned to social media to show their support and Kendall Jenner has also tweeted for Lamar, writing, "Please don't go."
Mychal Thompson, former Laker, father of NBA star Klay Thompson and current Lakers broadcaster, also told E! News exclusively that the team is keeping Lamar in their thoughts at all times. "We are all currently praying for Lamar and wish him the best," he said.
My sympathy for Khloe is short. I feel for her in the sense that it must be devastating to see this happen to someone you love/d.
My real sympathy lies with his minor children. And I could be wrong on this one, but I *think* if I remember correctly, under the terms of their divorce, Khloe remains the main beneficiary on his life insurance policies.
So she cared enough to make sure she got all the money. Because she doesn't have enough.
And if there are really cameras there, the K family should rot in hell.
I really hope this is wrong or that he at least has some untouchable trust funds set up for his children.
I feel awful for Lamar. He's had a tough life. I think he enjoyed being a part of the k family as crazy as they are because they are so tight. He didn't have that with his family.
I feel bad for Rob even more right now. Lamar was his friend
I feel extra bad that they are reporting that his downward spiral was in part due to his portrayal on Sunday nights episode of KUWTK. Saying he seemed fine and in good spirits until the show aired and then he bacame "irate" and his demeanor changed.
I don't watch the show so I am not sure how he was mentioned in that episode.
Who are all these sources releasing info about the drugs? I saw someone is saying he had track marks? Doesn't this violate HIPPA? Poor Lamar Drugs suck.
I live stream sports radio and haven't heard the breaking news of his passing, yet. I'm hoping he is still alive and that there is anything that can be done to save him and then help him.

Someone remind me... Was he adopted at one point? I know he had family in the wedding episode but I can't remember if they took him in or legally adopted him. I would think they would be there too?

His wikipedia page says his mom died of cancer when he was 12. And his dad was a heroin addict. He was raised by his Gma

His father was a heroin addict, not sure if he died from his addiction, and his mother died young. I think his grandparent(s) raised him.

I think his Dad is still alive (their strained relationship has been featured on the show), but I remember there being a family there at the wedding rehearsal whom he thanked for taking him in or something.

If the info is coming from medical professionals, then yes it would be a HIPPA violation. If it's coming from the Love Ranch, then no (unless one of them has medical credentials, lol).
It is sad to see this happen with anyone. (Kardashians or drugs)

No matter how this ends, whether he lives or dies he is going to be know as the drug addict at the brothel. That is not what he is, he is a father, an overcomer, an NBA champion, a husband. People only see drug addict and that is sad and pathetic.
This whole thing is so sad. TMZ is now reporting multiple strokes from "sources". We all know Kris has TMZ on speed dial and I bet she is calling them with updates from the hospital. They claim Jesse Jackson came into pray over/with him and that the report Jesse gave to the media when he left the hospital that Lamar is "showing signs of improvement" is wrong.
Sorry. I was questioning it as I was typing it. HIPPA seemed too easy and hippo-like
The act that led to HIPAA was the Health Insurance Privacy Protection Act (HIPPA), which is the jargon that was being used when I worked in medical billing back in 2000; so yeah, easy to confuse.
