Queen of the Tearling and Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen are the last two I read that I really enjoyed. Post-apocalyptic but with a feudal setting, with a pretty kickass teen girl as the main character.
I think I am going to start The Name of the Wind next.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik is really good. It's fantasy and not YA although it starts off YAish. I also liked that it's a stand alone and the story wraps up by the end instead of being dragged out for 3 more books.
I'm reading Schismatrix Plus by Bruce Sterling. I really enjoy his future vision and world building, but I'm struggling because it's very episodic, and I prefer novels with a single story arc rather than lots of individual sub-plots strung together.
I'm listening to Kindred by Octavia Butler. I'm really enjoying it, and I feel like it must have influenced The Time Traveler's Wife (which I also loved). I think Kindred is probably better, because (although TTW is one of the few books that's made me actually cry) Kindred takes on a much bigger subject.
I'm working my way through the Outlander series. I've just started book 5, The Fiery Cross. Since the Outlander books are so long I try to read 1-2 shorter books between each one so recently I've also read The Martian, Paper Towns, and a cheesy romance novel.
