afternoon randoms

I almost cried at work.

I've known for a while I need a mentor at work (and I desperately need to get a new position), but I have no idea how to go about doing that. So on the recommendation of a friend, I read "Lean In", and have been really trying to figure out how to advance my career.

Then I look out my office and a former peer, who got a promotion within 2 years at the company because our boss got her a mentor and she ended up directly under said mentor, was walking in from lunch with 2 people that have made a point to mentor only the younger people in the office (like 22-24 year olds). She is my age (29). The same boss that got her a beneficial mentor has never bothered to mention anything to me in the 8 years I've been here. Obviously I don't know anything about who initiated the lunch, or what happened, or why, but I just feel sad and left out. She gets 3 mentors (probably more because she's extroverted and loud) and I get none. Like I don't have enough potential for anyone to bother mentoring me. This sucks.

The apt complex just called. They have a package that was mis-addressed. Please baby jesus let this be the house number package I royally messed up.

Also our buyer sent an email that the pool pump isn't working. It's like 50 degrees out. Why is she using the pool pump? I told my realtor we bought it from amazon, but we always took the pool down during the winter, so I have no idea about what to do with it in the off season.

We're going to our old neighbors on Halloween. I really hope we don't run into her, LOL.

DS2 was sleeping when I had to leave to pick DS1 up from school so I kept him swaddled & plopped him in the ergo. He slept for an extra hour on the walk!

I'm so excited! We got a toy catalog today and J and I were looking through it together. He wants a dollhouse for Christmas!! He kept pointing out all different types of doll houses saying he wants to ask santa for one. I was hoping to get the girls one in a couple of years but now I don't have to wait! I can't wait to play with it lol.

Now to choose what kind. Definitely can't be a huge thing as we don't have room.

I feel bad that I struggle with getting more than one real nap for baby. He naps after we drop DS off so today 930-1 and then right when he needs another nap we have to pick DS1 up so he gets like a 5 minute car nap and won't go back down when we get home.

My grandparents got a scam call from someone saying they were my brother and he needed bail money. My grandma laughed and said he would never be in jail but my grandpa thought it was legit. Stuff like that makes me so nervous for them!

He napped for 3.5 hours?!?! Even on the days the boys are with grandma and I only have the baby I can't get her to take anything longer than a 45 min cat nap unless I hold her the whole time.

This happened to my grandparents. My grandma played along until she asked which one grandson needed help. The caller responded with the name Charlie, which his not her grandsons' name. She only has 1 grandson. She told them that she couldn't help Charlie and hoped he contacted the right set of grandparents next time he was in jail.

Yeah, he does the first nap for pretty long, like 3.5-5 hours, but he acts like he needs another. He only naps that long in swing it's an hour if in crib. My first was like your daughter. Only napped on me untill 6 months. Then daycare fixed it

That's a good comeback! The only thing that makes me nervous about it is they knew my brothers' name. I'm hoping it was just random but someone clearly did research.

I finally had to confess to my mom bc I couldn't keep up the charade, lol.

Then she got really into Cruise Critic and her FB cruise groups and now gets it, lol.

That is hysterical.

My mom actually knows about MMM, she is just weird about privacy and posting photos online and stuff. I didn't want to get into it with her about posting a selfie and asking for fashion advice so lying was just easier. lol.

Nothing yet. I tried Nordstrom Rack this morning and DSW this afternoon because I am cheap (lol), but struck out. We are walking distance to a Nordstrom so I am going to give that a shot later. I need to go look for sneakers for DD1 there anyway because her caviar tastes disapprove of what I found for her at the Rack. lol.

I did get a pair of basic patent nude pumps at DSW (they are boring but they were only $20) and leggings for yoga from the Rack so all was not lost. 

Feel free to tell me if the pump is awful and not worth $20. I am such a bad shopper I can't even tell

All 3 of mine have been cat nappers, even in the swing, stroller, etc. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, but it still drives me nuts every day because they are cranky and clearly need more sleep. Probably another reason why I'm not a baby person. The boys outgrew it between 5 and 6 months, so I'm assuming the same will be true for DD. It's just frustrating in the meantime.

I made H go get DS from after school care and get tortillas for dinner. His job has had me solo parenting a lot lately and I am going to enjoy DD's nap for once and sit on my butt and do nothing while he does the errands and cooking.

I spent most of my day finishing DS's costume. I am so thankful to be done! It was exhausting and stressful. Every time I was covered in paint the baby would wake up or start screaming.

Tonight I plan to start my SS list and drink wine. It will be amazing.

H cut ds's hair and it looks terrible. He has done it twice before and it hasn't been awesome but this is so so bad. I want to cry. I need to get pictures taken soon for xmas cards so I hope it starts to look better in the next few weeks.

I also had a shit day at work and am looking forward to wine soon.

Why are stride rite shoes so expensive?!! I saw a cute pair on a little girl today and looked them up and they're over $50! For Velcro light up Cinderella sneakers! If I'm spending that on shoes for her I want nice shoes.

Next week is my last week of ML. I was going to take DS2 part time all week to kind of ease in, but then my supervisor and I were talking and realized that everyone in the office will be gone the 12th and 13th. So rather than sit around all day those two days, I'm going to go back next Thurs/Fri and then take the 12th and 13th off.

I feel like that will be better anyhow since that way I can have 2 short weeks right off the bat and just kind of get back in the swing of things. I'm irrationally worried about my supply so maybe only having to pump at work 2 days to start will ease that fear a little. fingers crossed.

I'm on the total other end. DD is like 60% for weight (11.4lbs) and 88% for length (23.25in). And her head size is 95%!!!! I don't feel like she looks that big, but I guess so.
