Baby Zane came into the world with a bang. My water broke at midnight and we went into L&D soon after. Contractions started around 2:30am and while uncomfortable never got consistent. I was 1cm when I show up and at noon I was only at 2cm. They gave me some cocktail drink with champagne in it to kick start labor, which is apparently a common thing here.
My contractions got stronger and were about 5 minutes apart in the early afternoon post cocktail. But I was still only 2 cm. I got some IV pain meds at that point but they weren't helping much. So I transitioned to the tub to try labor in the water.
I was in SO MUCH PAIN. I only spent like 30 minutes in the tub and I starting feeling the need to push and I couldn't control it. I was begging for an epidural, because my contractions were one on top of the other. The midwives got me out of the tub to check and I was freaking 10cm!
And my H had run home to let the dogs out because, heck I'd been at 2cm all day. My SIL called him in a panic and he literally rushed in the room as I was pushing. But he made it.
I had no intention of going med free for delivery. I was so tired at that point, I had no idea how I was going to push him out. I pushed for maybe 30 minutes, but it felt like forever.
But I'm riding an adrenaline high and glad it went fast in the end. I didn't get any sleep before my water broke so I'm going on 36 hours with no sleep.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
What a perfect peanut! Congrats on welcoming your sweet baby, and what a crazy labor story for the future. I think I'm going to google this Champagne cocktail in labor stuff and give it to my H.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I can't believe you got a champagne cocktail in the hospital. Man, the U.S. is so annoying.
Ahem, Muddled, please note that G22 had her baby like 5 minutes ago and already wrote up her birth story for us.
LOL I had a moment to write it up because I'm doing the most American thing ever....pigging out on McDonalds while the baby sleeps. They let me eat whatever I wanted while I labored, but once I hit a certain point I didn't want food. My sugars are probably at an all time low and I'm feeling it. I got woozy when I got out of bed earlier, for a combination of reasons, so I'm full on carb loading right now.
And the cocktail, while it sounds nice, not as good. If I had only had to drink a small amount, it would have been fine. But it was a larger amount and I ended up throwing up part of it a few hours later. Not my finest moment today. But it worked obviously.
