Happy Thanksgiving! I'm heading to meet our contractor at 8am and then buying paint for the rooms. Wahoo! Dinner will be at the pub for us as my H has to work tomorrow (not in US).
I'm nervous for today. I'm hosting 17 people from work (between shift change) and I have to make 2 17# turkeys. So I'm using a roaster oven for the first time and it's directions tell me it will take 2 hours while everywhere else says 4. And it won't make crispy skin without real oven time at the end that I don't have. And I'm using real china but paper napkins because mine all look ratty and mismatched with colors.
I am in my car with my seat warmer on, waiting for the Turkey Trot to start. Premium parking is important and worth getting here two hours before the race starts. H thinks I'm crazy. Whatever dude.

Happy turkey day folks- hope everybody survives & there's plenty of booze to combat all the insanity.
My MIL is making/bringing almost everything, so I'm thankful for that. We're gathering at 11, so I'm hoping everybody is gone by 2-3 so I can nap & get in a walk this afternoon...cause NEWBORN BABY SLEEP SUCKS! lol

Ditto, minus the seat warmers and premium parking.
I'm coughing up phlegm. Gonna run this cold out of me.
Tacos should be arriving soon. She just has to walk out of her apartment and down a hill.
I was putting the extra leaves in the table and crawled under it to pull down the extra support legs and the dog ran over to see what I was doing. I looked at him and asked "want to just make this our fort and stay under here all day?" He just looked at me and sat down, so I'm taking that as a yes. I'll just grab his favorite bone and my box of coloring books and colored pencils (I store them in this super cute polka dot box lol) and we'll be good all day. Let the rest of them survive without me.
This morning has been lovely so far. Cup of coffee with some Baileys, got to watch the annual Turkey Trot 5k for our front door. All the fun of participating in a 5k without any of the work or cold. Watched the start of the Macy's parade with the family, and now I'm going to take a bubble bath. Happy Thanksgiving!
I made some pumpkin baked french toast. It's in the oven right now. Yum!
I still have to make a pie or two and go to yoga at 10:30. I will have done 24 classes in 26 days. I'm pretty pleased that I stuck with it. I think the stretching and strengthening is helping my back. Plus losing 5 pounds? When I lost weight before, I was working out 2 hours a day, 6 days a week which I just don't have the time to do now. So if yoga is helping me lose weight? Woot!
Enjoyed The Wiz preview on the parade. Forgot to add yeast at that start of making the sourdough bread whoops/wtf. At least the cranberry orange muffins and beer bread rolls are good to go.

Have a great day everyone!
[br Yes! The preview had made me cautiously optimistic.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm sitting here waiting for the coffee to brew. We'll head up to my parent's house in a few hours. My daughter and family can't make it and neither can my youngest son and his wife. So just my oldest son. My dad was taking it better than I was. He said that now all the "adult" attention could go directly to DS without any siblings to shield him. (Dad is being silly). But I texted DS yesterday to tell him what time we're going, and texted last night to see when to expect him. Haven't heard back, so the completely reasonable voice in my head says that something is terribly wrong. If i turns out that everything is fine and Thanksgiving goes as planned, we will try to Skype with the kids who can't make it.
Eta to add that oldest ds is alive and will be there! :-)

After asking for weeks if my BIL was bringing his girlfriend to our TG dinner and getting no response he texted last night "what should girlfriend bring" and she's bringing her child too. Thanks. BIL.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are still in bed at the ILs. They have the kids downstairs and DH is snoring. We got most of the prep out of the way last evening. Not looking forward to the gluten-free drama SIL has brought. Oh well - more for me!
My grandpa called and he doesn't want to come to our dinner. He's using the snow (which isn't that bad) as an excuse. I'm disappointed. The real reason he doesn't want to come is because he doesn't want to see the changes we've made to the house. sigh...

Cons: -tiny apartment with stifling heat (the building controls the thermostat plus she's old so always cold) -no wifi -no turkey or mashed potatoes or biscuits
Pros: -homemade Puerto Rican feast -no enforced kumbaya time from my mother
