DD is playing on her "play corner", h and I are lounging in the living room and my sister is still sleeping. She stayed last night so we can attend a cousins baby shower at noon today. So fun to have her close and be able to go to stuff!
I could cook all day and am great at it, but I really hate to bake. Like really hate it. Something about having to follow a recipe and no fixes on the fly to make it better does nothing for me.
My neighbor girls (they're 4 sisters, college and HS age) have an annual baking weekend. They sell giant trays for $20.00.

We got up and had oatmeal for breakfast and then came to the Children's museum because DS freaks for it. I skipped coffee and I'm totally regretting it.
I'm going to girls cookie bake at noon for soup, gossip, and baking. I'm looking forward to it but I know I am going to be exhausted later.
HOLY SHIT! Last night, a huge box with my Cyber Monday American Girl orders arrived. I had ordered enough stuff for the girls for all their 2016 birthdays and holidays (Easter, Valentine's, Christmas, etc.). After bedtime, in the living room, I opened the items to show Mr. Kirkette. He was a bit miffed at the sheer volume of it all, until I showed him how much I paid for everything. I was very MM! As we went upstairs to bed, I asked him to bring up the box, and hide it in my closet. I have a space in the walk-in where I hide all the toys I've purchased in advance.
This morning, while we're still in bed, Kirklette wakes up to go use the downstairs bathroom. About 20 minutes later we hear, "Oh my goodness! Yay! I actually have mail today! I love it!". Â (huh) Â Â :? Â
Mr. Kirkette jumps out of bed, and runs down the stairs to see the happiest 5 year old ever, surrounded by piles of opened red and pink bags and boxes. It was like Christmas came early, only there were way more toys than what we planned for this Christmas.
Mr. Kirkette apologized and felt horrible. I just laughed and laughed. Then, I explained that now I'd be buying more AG stuff, in 2016. My plan to be MM, had completely been foiled.
Since we can't pretend like the gifts aren't there (she saw everything, and is super excited) we decided to use the items as positive behavior incentives and rewards. So, Â Kirklette is currently cleaning her room, organizing all the toys and books downstairs, cleaning up the shoes in our entry way, and setting out all her clothes for spirit week this week. If all that gets completed, and she maintains a good/ whiny-less attitude, she'll be able to select one item from the box.
Parenting, man. Never a dull moment.Â
I would die!!! She must be thrilled!!! I'm still waiting for my AG packages to arrive. MUST HIDE it all!!!!
Dd's big Xmas gift was a kidkraft doll house. We had gotten a train table for a good price also but decided to return it. Turns out we returned the doll house on accident - which was ordered from a different place! (All online orders). We noticed it last night when we went to start assembling the doll house. After several phone calls and very confused workers it sounds like we will eventually get the doll house back but the timing is unclear. Cue panic and frantic online searches looking for another doll house. Im actually happier with the new one we bought (which will be here by Wednesday) but ugh!
I woke up completely by myself this morning and it was lovely. First night away on my own since DS was born 16 months ago.
I might go car shopping today, but I am kind of terrified. DH decided there will be a good day exactly never when both of us can go at the same time and get a sitter for the kids. We've got the make/model and budget down, but now I'm supposed to test drive and bargain. Yikes!
Omfg. 9yo free to a good home. I'm so done with attitude. At least when the toddler is being unreasonable I know he's not doing it on purpose.
And when your grandma asks you to circle items (toys specifically) in the Target ad that you'd like for Christmas, you don't circle only gaming systems and laptops that cost hundreds of dollars. It's so annoying that no matter how hard we try, he doesn't understand the value of money because neither does his mother.
So tired. DD was up nearly all night long... Just awake. Not crying or needing to eat. She just woke up all bright eyed. And of course, DS woke up early too. Yawn.
MIL took DS to the park, then to her house for lunch & nap. Perfect time for a nap for me, right? Except my mom has impeccable timing and is visiting. I know, most people could leave the newborn with their mom and say wake me when she needs to eat, but she's just not that kind of mom. She doesn't do crying or diapers or spit up or anything, really. She just comes to take some pictures so she can put them in her nana book and call herself a good nana.

A big group of mom friends went on a sleigh ride this morning then had photos with Santa and decorated cookies, it was so much fun! Dd was exhausted afterwards.

I am terrible.
I am currently compiling gifts to buy myself. I asked for virtually nothing for Christmas, because I need nothing, and didn't want my family stressing and all that.
But now I want to treat myself to a bunch of stuff because, I just feel like it, and want to celebrate being done with shopping for Christmas gifts for others, and basically it's raining and internet deals beckon. Also, I can't drink and it's the holidays and I need some jollies.
If you were invited to a wedding and really wanted to go but couldn't how do you decline? I was thinking of sending a nice card with a gift but am stuck on what to say...WDYT of this: We are so excited to hear about your wedding in April! Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend but appreciate you including us on your special day. We will be thinking of you on April XX, and send our love and best wishes your way
I also plan on including a six pence with a small card explaining the tradition.
@cse1960 this seems like something you would know!
Damn it! I've tried 3 times to reply!
i wore a six pence in my shoe
for a so-so friend, I'd just check the decline option on the RSVP. For a good friend I would call and explain so that they'd know I really wanted to come, I just couldn't.
Jesus my H is an idiot. He used our joint email to order my Christmas gifts. I'm standing in the middle of Ulta while my email notification pings thanking me for my Lo and Sons order.
V has suddenly gotten interested in learning Spanish words. They learned "agua" and "leche" at school, but he keeps quizzing me on food, where my vocab is terrible. Plus I'm not sure there's a word for cole slaw.
Which speech recognition/search does best with kids?
Just left a birthday party with DD throwing her most epic tantrum ever. Pulling her hair out, stripping her clothes, kicking, scratching, hitting. Awful. SO embarrassing.

My little guy has a 101.5 fever and a yucky cough. We're just snuggling in bed watching Tayo the Little Bus on YouTube. I need to figure out how to get some fluids into him. He hasn't been drinking much.

Hope he feels better! My DD is obsessed with that show-she even watches the videos of people playing with the toy buses. I don't get that but whatever. lol.

Poor guy when B was really sick last week I let her suck on ice cubes when all else fails. Hope he feels better soon!
C was refusing to nap so I dragged him into my bed and finally got him down by laying with him. I couldn't sleep because unborn baby was having a dance party in my uterus, but at least he did.
Now H took both boys to a friend's to give me a break and he won't be home for like four hours. I'm not sure I even know what to do with myself, but I'm currently braless on the couch watching Quantico. Winning.

Ugh, I hate it when he's sick! I just changed his diaper (after 4.5 hours) and it was not nearly as wet as it usually is. Plus it smelled really strong and the pee looked like it was pretty dark so I know he's starting to get dehydrated. I offered chocolate milk (which he normally loves) and two different kinds of juice (which he has never had before) but he wasn't interested. He did eat some apple sauce which is I guess better than nothing.
And I just realized that his last dose of Advil was at 1:30 making his next dose at 7:30 but he's usually asleep by 6:30. I don't have any Tylenol in the house to rotate with and H is at work so now I have to take him out to go buy some.
