I've pretty much talked myself into it already, but these dishes.
I wanted to register for them when we got married 5 years ago, and still visit them at the store. The price of 8 place settings is $0.02 less than my Christmas money. My coworker's daughter needs dishes for her college apartment (she could have my old dishes).
The line is called Sophie Conran for Portmeirion, and they are sold lots of places. I found the best deal at Belk, but I know Macy's, Amazon, and Bed Bath and Beyond also carry them.
ESF -- I have navy and it looks ... Like a nylon bag. Not necessarily cheap but not fancy. I would say it looks at least slightly nicer in the photos because in the photos it is not overstuffed and dirty. If I were buying today I'd be going for heather, which to me looks like a nicer fabric anyway.
But also, if I were going to buy it today, I'd get an OG. I will always maintain that the OG is a really big bag and maybe would look ridiculous carried by a short person like me, but my OMG is a bit smaller than it needs to be to be super useful to be (as a personal item when traveling -- I don't use it as an every day bag).
Since I know we have similar bag taste ESF... I love my OMG. Use it for travel almost exclusively now. You know I loved my Alesya bags, but the OMG is significantly lighter, and ability to put it on the handle of a roller bag is critical. It looks like a nylon bag but definitely professional enough - I've never felt weird using it for a meeting with a suit.
v - what are you trying to fit in there that you can't? Mine's pretty full when I fly, but not overly so (and there's always extra space in the curve at the top) I have a macbook air though.
operagirl, so what you are saying is - they are 100% worth every penny and I should ABSOLUTELY get the 10-piece set because - SOUP and PASTA! They look like the cook like an absolute dream......
Message received - I searched through the archives and saw you recommended them in a post previously Love the enthusiastic endorsement / enabling. (heart)

Good to know! Honestly, all I really care about is that it has a shoe compartment. My biggest complaint with the Alesya bag is that it's not good for carrying a spare pair of shoes. I would really like to stop playing Tetris with the insides of my bag to get out of my heels and into my flats.

It won't fit any of my laptops so I never have a computer in it I use my Brookline when traveling for work because it fits a non-tiny laptop.
Ideally, it would be a good redeye bag, which would require fitting my neck pillow, headphones, blankie , small liquids bag, a pair of socks, and a few other miscellaneous very small things. I know that's a tall order, but I have other bags that can do that (though they don't have a zipper or the luggage handle sleeve thingy that I love so much). And hey, it bills itself as an overnight bag so it should be able to fit toiletries and a change of clothes and some other miscellany. The video on the website makes it seem like a small person should fit in there! (Also, LOL at the video making it seem like putting a shoe in the shoe compartment won't eat up the entire main compartment.)
But I suspect that the OG would be up for the task.

Yeah it's not at all an overnight bag, but it's a good laptop bag/purse for me. ESF the shoe compartment does eat up a lot of the main compartment when you use it.
I carry all my regular purse stuff (makeup, bars, emergen-c, epi pen, sunglasses, etc.) plus a giant travel charger and adapter case, a tiny footrest for long plane rides, my laptop, iPad, and files/folders - I can also fit my pill case and a scarf, but it's starting to get pretty full at that point. A neck pillow hooks around the straps if needed, and I can fit a water bottle in the back pocket (even if it's attached to my roller, it fits between the handles)
ESF -- do not buy it for the shoe compartment! Particularly if you want heels to go in there! It is all but impossible to get shoes in the shoe compartment if there is stuff in the bag (it is difficult enough to get a pair of heels in the shoe compartment if the bag is empty) and once they're in there's not a ton of regular bag space left. I end up just throwing shoes in the main compartment because it is so much more annoying to deal with getting my stuff to fit around the filled shoe compartment.
I am a master enabler, no explanations needed. Get all the things!
If anyone is trying to decide if they want a Philips Airfryer, you should definitely get one. I got the Avana version for Christmas, and I love it.
Tell me more about the fryer. I have looked at them periodically but am never sure what I would use it for. What have you cooked in it ?
I recently got the Phillips pasta maker and that thing is awesome.
Ooh, I heard the pasta maker is good.
The fryer doesn't use any oil in the basket. If you're doing homemade potatoes, it just calls for a Tbs oil, which is what you would normally use. It fries, grills, bakes and roast.
Today, was my first day using it, and I made a grilled cheese with apples, onions and colby jack cheese, and frozen french fries. Both were good, but I probably could have cooked them for a little less time. I had no intention of making a grilled cheese, but then saw the recipe in the instruction manual.

Agreed!
The only thing I keep in the shoe compartment is a little flip and tumble bag - I can put my shoes in that if I really need to!

I'm on the hunt for new dishes too and really like these off to look at them!!
Pom that house is beautiful! Except what's up with the lights in picture 19? It looks like one is crooked. Strange.
It looks like they simply hung them even though the middle cabinet was too wide and it should have been spaced differently. That looks very odd. Good catch!
I have this one from a couple years ago. It works for us and there are different sizes too.
No way! This is perfect! There is one that holds 72 ornaments, too . Thank you SO much, ordering now. I am much happier with this one, too, because I don't really like red but I was going to get over it, especially since it was for Christmas storage. Now I don't need to do so lol.
Well, since this thread is putting my life together so nicely, anyone care to recommend their laptop?
spunkarella, the deal at Belk is better even with the BB&B 20% off coupon, right?

Why, yes, I can. I have a Lenovo Yoga 3-14. It's great. It's totally bendable and flexible, and I can use it as a tablet.

All I want at this point is a handyman & painter...maybe a new car too. Actually I did think of hitting up a restaurant supply store and seeing if their are any cheap glasses. My kids break them a lot.
I want a chair and a cabinet for my bathroom (and some art for the walls) I want to rip out our carpet and refinish the hardwood floors I want a new (big) crockpot, I have a new smaller one I want an antique desk for my living room I want a new Macbook Air I would like to leave the country with only DH for a vacation before DC5 arrives I want to finish our basement (it is not exactly space I would ever live in but is good for a hangout space and has my laundry room and future craft/project area. I want to cover the concrete floors with something and paint it/decorate it to make it look better. I want to buy ALL of the shoes, I would love to start from scratch and buy to fill our walk in closet.
This is all I can think of off the top of my head, I am capable of much more and should return around 11pm when I usually start browsing Amazon carelessly.
FWIW, this house would not be a contender because Mr. P (and I) needs a garden and bigger lot.
It looks like Chip and Joanna did it . That's a good thing coming from me (I know they have haters lol).
I fell in love with the French Acadian style when we bought our first house in 2005. The front elevation of the linked house looks very much like our house prior to this one. So I've had Mr. P watching a Fixer Upper marathon to get him on board with her French Country/my Acadian preference. My only issue is that so many of her houses have exactly the same adds going. Big table, French doors, wrapped beams....blah, blah, blah. They always end up to be great improvements, but similar. I was excited when the did that $10k junk hole house for her table guy a bit of a change.

They do. She branched out a little when they had the MCM house, too. I don't think she has any formal training, though, so she just does what she likes. It would probably be hard for me to get out not my design box too (although I'd probably try if HGTV was paying me lol).
