Was your DH on board with cloth diapering from the beg ginning? How about your family?
No and not really.
DH came around pretty quickly and now LOVES to talk to other dads about CDing: he's sold. To start, I did the Jillian's Drawers trial (so, very low-risk, low investment.) After Jillian's, we decided to try pockets: I just started with a few and we made an agreement that if it didn't work out, I'd sell them and we'd just chalk it up to being a fun experiment. It clicked for us and instead of selling them, we built our stash and are now CDing #2.
My mom CDed both my brother and me and couldn't understand why I'd even consider them when I had the option to do disposables (CDs are so much more user-friendly now: I think she had no idea and was envisioning dealing w/pins and wet pails all over again.)
Thankfully everyone was on board from the get go (DH, daycare, etc).
I would present the reasoning for why you want to do it- cheaper (unless you're buying tons of custom diapers), more environmentally friendly, cotton vs plastic against the bum etc.

My H had never changed a diaper before our kids. He much prefers cloth to disposables. We have used disposables for some vacations and he always complains that they smell, can't tell that they're wet, etc. The interesting thing is that he likes prefolds the best. We have a lot of different styles of diapers.
Initially I could tell some other people thought we wouldn't stick with cloth, but I absolutely love them and my kids sensitive skin seems to do way better with them.
DH was open to the idea once he learned that CDs didn't mean diaper pins and plastic pants anymore. He was completely sold on it after seeing CDs in action on a coworker's baby.
Our parents didn't say anything either way about our decision. They don't live around us, though, so they wouldn't have to change diapers anyway. They were pretty impressed with them when we showed them some of the pockets we bought. My SIL makes snarky comments about it sometimes, but she makes snarky comments about everything, so we expected that.
