I'm ready to make my first snail purchased, but I'm overwhelmed with the options. I'm thinking either Cosrx 96 or Cosrx 92 AIO. Or should I go with the Mizon Repair Intensive Ampoule, AIO cream, or recovery gel? Benton Snail Bee Steam Cream? I generally have good skin and am mostly concerned with hydration. Suggestions?
I have the Cosrx 96 and really like it as my second step (I use either a toner and/or a first essence before it). I didn't find the Mizon recovery gel to be very useful for hydration but the Benton Steam Cream is fabulous. I would definitely suggest an HA for hydration if you don't have one yet, which you'll use before the Steam Cream.

Now that winter is coming, I recommend the Benton Steam Cream.
For hydration I've been loving the Ceramide Gel from Rosette. I use it a couple times a week as a sleeping mask (i.e. just put on a lot at bedtime).
Thanks for the recommendations. Is the steam cream pretty heavy? I'm in Hawaii so won't really be dealing with a harsh winter climate. I'm adding Cosrx 96 to my cart and will check out the ceramide gel. I'll let you know how it goes! I am already using a HA - Hado Labo Gokujyun Premium HA Solution - - I love it!

I was using Goodall's lasting water oil as a second step but when I ran out, I used Cosrx 96 and it's been great!

Yes, the steam cream is pretty heavy, but Benton's Snail Bee lotion is basically a lighter weight version. It's my go-to day moisturizer.
I saw a tip from Caroline Hirons to switch to milk or cream cleanser during winter, so I checked the Reddit ph spreadsheet and Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Cream Cleanser has a pH of 4! I expected it to be next to the gel cleanser, but so far I haven't seen it in the store. I may prime it, along with stridex in the red box, which I also can't find in stores. WTF? That's stuff was everywhere always!

I can only find the stridex at CVS around here, too.

Oh, okay! I actually saw it somewhere "weird" (in my head) but I didn't buy it because I didn't need a BHA. I never shop at cvs since Walgreens is across the street, but I did run into one on my way to work one day. That must have been where I saw it. Thanks! I'll check for the cleansing cream, too.
Has anyone tried the Skinfood sheet masks? I’m intrigued since they have some unique ones (salmon, caviar, horse fat, centella) but the reviews on Amazon aren’t great.
I've learned so much, thank you all for sharing your knowledge, links, ideas, recs, etc.
My plan of attack is replace as I need from Amazon, each item ideally close or under $20.
Details: I am 35 and live in the Midwest so I need moisture in the winter but will need to be careful come summer because I'll breakout with too much oil. I have fair skin (II), lots of redness and freckles and brown spots (grew up in FL so plenty of sun damage). With everything I've read, I think dehydrated and aging best describes my skin type.
PM: Banila Co Clean It Zero Classic Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser Thayers Witch Hazel Joseon Dynasty Cream
On my list to add in: COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-So Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid Purest Naturals Enhanced Vitamin C Serum + Hyaluronic Acid For Face Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence
Questions:
I have a tretinoin RX I need to incorporate back into my PM routine. Where is the best place to add it?
Is there a lighter moisturizer option I could consider for summer?
Any other brilliant products for my list that come to mind?
BeagleMama, watch out for the high alcohol content in the Cosrx A-So toner. I might rec holding off on trying it until the weather is more warm. I'd also suggest a snail product. The Cosrx snail mucin is a great intro.
BeagleMama our skin sounds similar. I highly recommend the Belif Aqua Bomb moisturizer for the summer months. Lightweight, never broke me out. Really, the whole line is good. They make a cream version that you may want to check out in the colder months too.
It’s available at Sephora and will often have gift sets that include a full size Aqua Bomb at the same price as buying it individually.

BeagleMama, I'd add a hyaluronic acid product that doesn't have vitamin C as you'll want to use it 2x a day and you don't want to use Vit C twice a day. You put it on and let it settle (get less sticky) before you put on moisturiser and/or oils.
It's been so miserably cold and dry here that I used my Benton Snail Bee Lotion for the first time in ages this week.
Since I had used it before, I didn't think to check if it has the ingredient I have since figured out that I react to. Sure enough it does and now I have two monster cystic breakouts.
I am on the hunt for a replacement and not really sure where to start. I have a few lighter moisturizers that I love but I need something a bit heavier for winter evenings.

no olive oil. what else do you need to avoid?
I think that's it. Well, anything olive oil related. Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate are what is in that moisturizer and a few others.
It's funny because Cosdna doesn't rank them as a possible acne trigger but they sure are for me.

I really like the nature republic shea steam cream for a heavy moisturizer, though I use it at night. might be a bit much for day. I'm not seeing any of those on cosdna, but it does have other acne trigger ingredients.
I have a tub I haven't opened yet, I could scoop you out a sample in any one of my half a dozen empty containers and bring it to you. When we go out for chinese.
I'll have to check my notes from my heavy cream sample-palozza to see which other ones I liked...
I have some 1% retinol from The Ordinary I'd like to start using. I used it once or twice and I remember my face having some redness/irritation, but I don't really remember. Is it something I should try adding once a week? mix with a moisturizer? apply a good moisturizer after?

I got the advise to mix it with a gentle moisturizer at first and use it 1-2x a week, gradually building up a tolerance. That really worked for me. I use it straight up now, but still only 3-4x a week since I use a lactic acid a couple of times a week too.

I would use it and then apply a heavier moisturizer like CeraVe. Another tip is to wash your face and let it dry about 20 minutes before applying. Applying to dry skin means it won't absorb as deeply, and therefore you'll have less irritation.
