I'm very grateful to have bought when we did. Now we couldn't afford to buy or rent in any of the areas where we looked. The neighborhood is kid friendly. The area is scenic. The schools are great. We have a bedroom for each person and other things we really wanted. But other than filling the bare minimum of what works and what we wanted / needed I greatly dislike the house itself.
I love love it. The only downside is we can't really put too much money upgrading countertops and cabinets like I wish we could. I mean, we can but not sure what return of investment would look like.
We'll need bigger when we start having kids but for the two of us it's perfect.
This is hard for me to answer. So that DH can focus on finally finishing his degree, we are living in an old trailer on the property he grew up on. The property is beautiful, the location is not ideal, and the trailer is an old trailer, lol. It is safe and functional and has enough room for us, but those are the only positives. We will be here until he graduates.
DH really wants to build a new home on the property. If he gets a job close enough after graduation, this is something I would consider. Having 2 acres within 20 minutes of downtown will be hard to give up.

It's old and small, and slowly falling apart.
We didn't have housing lined up before we moved and were living in a hotel. We were running out of time (had all our stuff in a moving truck) and living on base wasn't an option this time.
All the houses in the area are old (at least the ones in our price range.) You guys would have died at the other houses that were available in our price range. We ended up in this house because it was the only one we saw without 1970s carpet in it and had the biggest rooms of all the houses we saw. Also it was the only one with a big garage and huge fenced in backyard (we have a huge dog.)
Thankfully the rental company is awesome and when our a/c stopped working they gave us a window unit. We got a brand new A/C unit installed, and my house stayed cool all summer. The previous unit did a horrible job at actually keeping the entire house cold.
It's only temporary, but we are at our capacity with the addition of the new baby. Hopefully we only have 2 more years at this duty station and we can live on base next time. Hopefully in a 4 bedroom house.
It's 2400 sqft, which is a fine size, but the layout is weird and it makes rooms feel really small and/or awkward. It's something I didn't really think about when we decided to put an offer on it because the house was empty, so I didn't realize how cramped it was until we started putting in our own furniture.
I'm going to be so picky when it comes to our next house, and I know we should build. I've been browsing real estate for months and I haven't found a single house I love, but building a house just seems so overwhelming. And I can't wait to have a huge property. I've been daydreaming about growing like an acre of grapes and making wine. I'd love my own private vineyard, a bunch of fruit trees, some chickens, goats, and a big ol pig. Lol, I cannot freaking wait.
There are things I'd like to change about it once we have the time and the funds to do so. For the most part though, I honestly really love it. We live on a quiet street in a great community. We really like our neighbors. We can walk into town to run a few errands or go out to dinner.
Every once in a while we do talk about downsizing. If we don't end up having kids, we're not going to need the amount of space that we have now. But I'd be very sad to leave.

I like it a lot. There are 90 awesome things about it and 10 not very awesome things (including the fact that it's almost too small for us, and will certainly be too small once the boys are bigger), so it doesn't make sense to move right now. If we do move, it will be very close by, because we are in a good school district and cute neighborhood.
Part of my feelings are my love of moving though. In college and afterwards I moved every year and it was fun to be a new place so often. I've lived in this house the longest timespan since my childhood home and I'm feeling the itch, but it's not a good enough reason to consider moving.

I love it, if I had some more money to do a few things it would be my dream home. So, hopefully, eventually it will be my dream home. Our location is perfect, our yard is awesome, and I love the house but it was built in the 70s and the 1st owner never changed anything, we're slowly bringing it around.
Where I am right now is exceedingly meh, but it is temporary so I'm fine with it.
I thought your new place was adorable! Is it just not what you wanted?
I moved out of that apartment! That old place was absolutely adorable and charming, but the heating had major issues and instead of resigning another lease (with a rent increase) and dealing with another winter there, at the end of November I moved to a 1989 condo that looks exactly as that sounds, lol. It was the right choice for now since my next move will be big...dun dun dunnnnnnn. PDQ.
I fucking hate it. I love the location and view but that's about it. It needs so much work that DH promised would be quick and easy to update (he's a contractor). Yet, 6.5 years later, it's in all stages of finished-ness. And it's way to small now that we have a kid.
We thought this would be our starter home, but 11 years later we're still here. I loved it when we bought it as newlyweds with no kids. Now, with a 9 year old and 7 year old, it does feel a bit small. I still love it, and we've had lots of time to make things the way we want them here. I don't know that I'd want to start over. More space in our price range means not updated since the 80s. If we ever move I would like it to be to new construction so we didn't have to do renovations all over again.

I like it. It's not big, about 1250 square feet (apartment), but the size doesn't bother me as much as it does to only have one bathroom and now four people using it. We need more bathrooms! We plan to move to the suburbs in about 1.5 years and I would love something much, much bigger though. ETA we rent

I love my home. I can't say it's my dream home because there are a lot of little things I'd have done differently had I built from scratch (eg, full bath on each floor; laundry on the second floor and a few other things). But I'm pretty much done with upgrades and I plan to downsize in the next few years anyway. But now that downsizing is on the horizon I'm getting very sentimental about the old girl.
I like aspects of it. The locations is good, and the size is nice. But I will be moving when my lease is up. I would like more secured parking as my car was stolen from my parking space, and more parking available for guests. I would also like in-unit laundry - but if I can't have that, I would at least like a common laundry that is better kept. We have one washer/one dryer, coin operated, for 9 units. And the room is gross, so I just have my laundry sent out - which I do love, but is an expenses I don't need.
Those are really the only things I would change about my current situation. So I am hoping I'll be able to find something that I really love next so I won't have to move again.
I love it, partially because it was the house H grew up in and it has a pool, LOL. I love *most* of my neighbors (Not YOU weird unhinged leaf blower dude).
I wish it was cheaper though, we are kind of house poor at the moment.

I'm between "like it fine" and "wish I could move". It's a cute little house, and it's certainly live-able while at the same time allowing us some disposable income. But I want more space and a quieter location. Everything that comes up in our little town is either out of our comfort zone price-wise, or not really any better than what we have.

I love our house. The layout, location, yard, etc. are all great. There are definitely some finishes that I don't love, but we're changing them bit by bit as time goes on. Unless we find ourselves in an extremely different financial position, I can't imagine ever finding something I like better.
The dream however is to buy some land and build a custom home - but I wouldn't want to do it unless we could afford to really make it our dream home.
I wish we were on a less busy road, but we're walking distance to the train station so it's a trade off.
I hate the way our yard is set up. Our garage is between our house and the yard, so we have to walk across the driveway to get to our yard. I wish our yard had a fence. We're on the corner so when people walk by it's like "HI EVERYONE! WE'RE JUST CHILLING IN THE YARD!" I'm too private to live that life.
I love the character of our house, and I'm cool with the size. It could use some updates, but I could live with it like it is for awhile.
The best part about our house is how convenient it is for commuting and shopping.
When we moved in I thought for sure it's our forever home. Yeah, no. I give it 10 years, tops. And it will be a long 10 years, lol.
I like it but it's too small for us (2 bedrooms, 1240 square feet)
But given that it's a great neighborhood and less than a mile from the beach we may do some work on it to increase the space as we cant afford to buy anything bigger here.
I think it has the potential to become a "love it" situation

I really like our house, I just wish every room was just a little bit bigger and I had an ensuite and a 2 car garage. I love our location/neighbourhood/yard though so I never want to move.
