HI everyone. Hope it's okay if I jump in. I'm a Disney nut. My user name actually stands for Beach Club Villas, lol.
Anyway, we booked baby's first trip to Disney for next December! H, me, baby, and my parents in a 2 bedroom at the Beach Club. My H is now having second thoughts and is worried about the baby going and getting sick. An 8 month old who is up to date on vaccines shouldn't have any issues, will she?

She will be fine. just don't let her suck on any lap bars or anything No matter what age I take my kids, we wash our hands a lot and sanitize them when we can't get to a sink. I took both my girls when they were 11 months.
How horrible is Disney the last two weeks of August. I don't have definite plans but I am toying with the idea of going. It would be a short trip, five nights max.
Basically, I know it is going to be expensive so I kinda want to be able to enjoy myself and not spend all my time waiting in line.
I think the weather will be the worst part of late august. Crowds slow a bit since lots of kids go back to school mid-august and I think prices drop a bit, too.
I think as long as you have a good plan, are prepared to rest at the hotel/pool during the worst of the day and are prepped for the rain (ponchos, etc) you'll be fine.

Yes, she'll be fine. I've taken 3.5 & 5.5 month olds with no issues (and we don't even use hand sanitizer at all ).

Take her! She's just as likely to pick up something at story time or Target.
We are getting ready to head home from our trip and I'm ready to plan our next! We stayed at Kidani village and loved it,but there was a lot of walking and it was far from MK. I would like to try somewhere new next trip. I'm not sure if I should do bcv or blt in the fall.

It really is a sickness. I totally start planning the next trip on the way home!

We are leaving Saturday for Disneyworld. We decided to go in December, booked some dining reservations and some FPs but that about it. It's our first time (well, first time in 15 years or so) and we have done the opposite of really plan. Anybody want to give any tips or hints? The kiddo is going to be 5 Monday.
Saturday Arrive in Orlando at 8:00 Go to hotel (Art of Animation) and then plan on heading to Animal Kingdom. Dinner reservation that night for Tusker (?) House at 6:00. Not sure what time we will make it to Animal Kingdom
Sunday Magic Kingdom I know we have a 4:30ish reservation at 1900 Park, I think. The Cinderella dinner
Monday (Birthday) Hollywood Studios 9:00ish reservation for character breakfast
Tuesday Magic Kingdom 8:00 reservation at Be Our Guest 12:50 reservation at Chef Mickey
I know we have kind of awkward reservation times, but we didn't have a ton of options. We have park hopper tickets, we would love to go to Epcot but don't know where if would fit. My main thing is, how did you decide what order to tour? We do have some FPs but not great ones, ha. We have just dropped the ball on this trip.
Also, has anyone used the disability access pass? The kid has Down Syndrome and a friend of mine just returned from a trip with their child with DS and they got one on their last trip. At first I wasn't going to try and get one, but she does have lower muscle tone and her endurance is a factor. The main thing I am interested in is that she said she was able to use the stroller as a wheelchair and bring it through the line with them. But, I'm not sure if we should get it or if we should try to power through.

Definitely go to guest services and get the DAS even if it's just so you can take the stroller through the line. Don't stress about it. This way she's happy and content.

If you want to check out EPCOT I would make HS a half day.
There is a small fee but I really like touringplans.com you can put in your ADRs and FPPs and it will organize things for you. You can select which attractions you want, set it to minimize walking or wait time and will give you FPP suggestions.

I think those reservations actually look really good! I like having dinner early. I'm not sure if I would want to leave MK to go to Chef Mickey though. BTW you did NOT drop the ball. Despite what it seems like on message boards most people just up and go to WDW with no reservations or plans.
I am not a Disney person. Will 5 days the first weekend of June make me want to poke my eyeballs out? I cannot do super crowds. Where should we stay? We did the equestrian themed hotel last time.

I would stay at the Grand Floridian or Contemporary.

Thank you for this- I just signed up!
You're welcome. There is an app you can download that is part of the subscription. I would create the plans on a computer if you can but the app is good for adjusting while in the park. It also has a decent wait time feature.

I think you would enjoy the Poly.
Yeah I'd suggest the Poly if you want a monorail resort

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but just wanted to thank everyone for their advice regarding apps and websites. We had the best time. I TOTALLY get the Disney love now. Seeing how much the kid beamed when Cinderella told her happy birthday then pulled her up to dance made me want to give DW all of my money.
We did bed up getting the disability pass. I would say we used it about 60% of the time. It was great for when she was starting to tire at the end of the day and for using the stroller in the lines. I think it would have been hard for her to walk on the uneven surfaces down to the rides, especially toward the end of the day.
We had so many cool experiences but one that really stood out to me a lot was when she had an accident, which was our fault. We just didn't find a bathroom in time. And of course it was after a drink spilled all over her and we had used her change of clothes. I ran to the gift shop to purchase something for her to wear. My options were all more than I wanted to spend on Disney-themed clothes, but I was sort of stuck. I took a 35.00 pair of leggings with a skirt attached and a two pack of socks up to the checkout. The older man helping me made some comment about them not fitting me so I told him that they were for my daughter who had an accident. He told me to wait and he would try and make my day better. I wasn't sure what he was going to do, I was hoping for a 10% coupon or something. He came back and said that f I bought the socks, he would let me have the skirt/leggings! How great is that? I was so impressed! They won me over for sure, ha.
We did a four character meals. I think Cinderella's royal table was my overall favorite, but the most fun may have been the Disney Jr. meal- lots of dancing and interactions. Plus it was in her actual birthday. My least favorite was probably Chef Mickey's. It was our last one and it was probably just bad timing.
We did Animal Kingdom the first day. It rained the entire time and wasn't my favorite park. I think we need to try again on a less rainy day. We spent about half a day at HS and the other half at Epcot. This was a VERY kid centered trip so it was enough time, but would like to plan another trip with more time to do adult rides/kid switch. We spent two full days at MK and I think we could have easily done three. It was just so perfect for her. She was at the perfect place developmentally, she could hang and do with less nap, but still totally bought the "magic" part. She thought she was meeting *the* Belle or Tinkerbell.
We stayed in a Car's suite at the Art of Animation. It was nice. Not fancy, but fine. No trouble using transportation or the dining plan. I know we will get the dining plan again. I don't think we saved any money and the last night we had 7 snack credits to use, but I just loved not having to think about anything.
Anyway, I know this is too long, I just wanted to say thanks for the advice and that I am a believer in the DW hype, ha.
Thanks for reporting back nonsensetomfoolery! We will likely need a disability pass next time we take a family trip and I've always wondered if it was helpful.

We used the DAS for DD when we went and it was definitely helpful. We didn't use it for everything but used it as needed. I used touring plans to strategically plan FP and DAS use and what rides/events we just waited in line for. It kept us from having any crazy waits which kept DD from getting frustrated and burned out.
I stayed at a Disney resort for the first time last week too. I have officially drank the Disney kool aid--even though our stay wasn't necessarily a Disney trip per se (we did legoland, Kennedy space center, the beach and a few lazy pool days). We went to AK for the first time and it really isn't my favorite park. (Epcot and MK are still my everything). Not sure we will go back to AK anytime soon. Has anyone been to HS recently to see the newer Star Wars exhibit that opened in December? Wondering how that is.
We did all of the Star Wars stuff, and it was awesome. Jedi Academy, Star Tours, Launch Bay, Darth Vader and Chewy Meet-and-Greets, the two Star Wars mini-movies, made our own lightsabers, etc. HS is our favorite. Review in my blog here:

nonsensetomfoolery, that's awesome about the "pixie dust" for the pants after the accident. DS1 had an accident and we were out of clothes, and I also didn't want to spend a million dollars on clothes, and when I asked a cast member if they even had a place to buy spare undies, they weren't very nice. But, we did get pixie dust on trip in other ways (like at AoA when DH and I were so harrowed from our trip and couldn't figure out the dining plan and the kids were hangry, and the cast member just let us have a kids meal for free when we got an extra by accident.)
