I was 1.5/50/-1 when I went in at 8pm on my due date for my induction. I had a dose of cytotec at 9 pm, then again at 1 am. I had very mild contractions, felt like BH, for the majority. My water spontaneously ruptured at about 3 am, at which point my contractions started ramping up. E started having decels once my water broke, so I was getting oxygen and flipping from side to side from then on. I got my epidural at 5 am, and was checked after. I was 3 cm at that point (can't remember effacement) and -1 station. My mom rubbed some clary sage oil on my ankles at about 6:30 am. My nurse and OB checked me at 7:30 am, and I was 5/90/0 at that point. An hour later, my nurse came in and said she saw a specific pattern to the baby's heart rate (late/variable decels) that made her think that I was complete, and I was! His heart rate dropped and stayed down when I practice pushed, so we waited until the OB got there before I started pushing for real. He was born at 9:15 am with just 3 pushes.
All in all, 12 hours from the first medication to birth for a primip induction, and just 1 hour from 5 cm to complete. So I just want to give you a good story and a positive induction experience.

I went in for an induction with basically no progress. I might've been 1 cm, I can't remember. Based on growth u/s they were thinking I'd have a >9.9 lb baby ("large gestational age") at 39w3d. They started cervadil around 8:30pm and gave me an ambien. My water ended up breaking around midnight on its own (!). I got an epidural around 4am and by 10am was ready to go. Except, there was no one to deliver me and so I labored down until 3:30pm when a midwife FINALLY came in. My contractions had literally stopped and so they had to start pitocin. At one point, the epidural either stopped working or what I really think happened, was the midwife turned it off because I felt EVERYTHING through 3 hours of pushing. I had the labor from you-know-where and it wasn't even due to the induction. You never know what's going to happen and everyone's experience is going to be very different.
ETA: She was 8 lb 10 oz. Not a peanut, but a ways from 9.9 lbs.
I had a long but successful induction. I was 41w 3d and was like 2cm and 50% effaced or somewhere around there. Went in around 8pm and got cervadil placed. I slept terribly that night, and wished I'd asked for an ambien. In the morning I hadn't progressed, so they gave me a different drug (can't remember what its called) that does almost the same thing as cervadil. Checked me that evening and no difference, so the doctor said, "Well its pitocin or a c-section. So lets try pitocin first." And that got things going. By 8pm my doctor broke my water and the contractions got intense really fast. I asked for an epidural around 9pm. I didn't get it until midnight or so, but after that I slept.
Twice the nurses came running in, throwing an oxygen mask on me and had me shift my position because the baby's heart rate had dropped. The second time they did this I thought for sure I was in for an emergency c-section but everything went ok.
The nurse checked me around 7:30am and said I was ready to start pushing. I pushed for about 45 minutes and baby's heard rate dipped just as he was crowning, so another scary moment as the doctor basically pulled him out. He ended up having the cord wrapped around his neck a couple times, and was very pale, and had mecomium all over him so he went to the NICU for the first 24 hours. I had a small tear, but recovery was very easy. Within a few days I felt much better, and within a week I felt very good physically.
If I have to do it again, I'll probably do whatever I can beforehand to induce labor. I'll even let them strip my membranes, which I wouldn't let them do for DS. And definitely take the ambien when offered, as well as get the epi before they break my water.
I am chiming in a little late, but just wanted to add that I also had a good induction experience. (I still have all the times in a note in my phone so I'll just put what I have to give you a timeline)
Went in the night before around 6pm at only about 1cm 0% effaced. 7:15pm The on call OB placed the Cervadil 6:15am Took the Cervadil out, 1.5cm, I showered, and got ready for them to start me on Pitocin. 7:15am Started Pitocin 8:47am OB broke my water 10:45am Epidural 12:55pm 4-5cm, 80% effaced, 0 station 3:55pm 8cm +1 station 5pm 9cm 8pm - DD was born
I originally didn't make much progress with the Cervadil so I was a little worried, but someone told me that once they got their epidural they were able to relax enough that their body started dilating. I think if you're tense from pain and what not that can sometimes hinder progress.
I was induced at 40w due to pre-e. I had a med free induction using a Foley bulb, nipple stimulation and having my waters broken. After 11 hours of active labor, J was born.
I know it's unusual to go without meds for an induction, so I'm happy to answer any questions.
