My sister got a great deal on a timeshare in FL for a vacation. Sleeps 8. In Orlando. During April vacation. She invited the family. Mom, Step-dad, me, Jay, sister, 3 nieces and maybe my younger sister as well.
Jay is basically demanding we go to the parks. I told him he gets TWO park days out of me and he's VERY lucky at that since I had told myself I'd never go again. If he wants to go to more, he's on his own. He is not to complain when I start complaining about all the, well, probably everything.
I just couldn't pass up the chance for a free place to stay and sunshine. The timeshare has 6 pools, 1 of which is an adult pool I believe. So, I am sacrificing 2 of my days and sanity for 5 days of everything else not Disney.
So, with that being said, anyone have any advice about Disney for a non-disney fan? We are going to Epcot and probably Universal Studios.
I have never been to any of the parks, but if I had to choose one, I would go to Harry Potter World.
I want to go there as well. Isn't it inside another park though?
Google is telling me that it consists of two parks, both inside Universal Orlando, and you need a park-to-park pass to see it all. (I'm not absolutely sure what any of that means.)

I say skip Disney altogether and just do 2 days at Universal. A) there are much better adult-type rides like the thriller-coasters and such B) you do not need to seek out beer/alcohol, they put the carts all over the place there! (unlike Disney)
Good luck, it does sound fun! I was definitely happier at Universal than Disney last time I went as an adult.

Oh gosh. I haven't been for years. The last time I went, I was only 20 so didn't do booze anyhow. But doesn't Epcot have booze? Or is that just during their Food and Wine Fest? I have heard Epcot has a lot of really good food, at least. I would hang out there and hope they have booze. Also, they do have a kind of cool ride called Soarin' that was fun.
Go to Universal Studios - it is definitely not.Disney. You can do it in one day, but if you want to spend two days, get two-day passes and do Universal and Islands of Adventure. It's MUCH more fun, IMO, especially without kids. And Harry Potter World (divided in two halves, each is in one of the Universal parks) is nothing short of amazing.
Without kids, I would do Epcot, but I would never do Disney World in a million years; IMO it is pretty much 100% geared towards kids.
We're actually going in a week and a half (for a 4-day weekend). We're doing Epcot and Universal - we did the wine tour in Epcot last time and had a blast. S wants to go to Magic Kingdom and MGM for the Aerosmith coaster, Tower of Terror and Space Mountain. We usually go early when the parks open, go back to the hotel pool for the afternoon when it gets super-crowded at the parks but the hotel is dead, then go back out to the parks later at night. I refuse to be there during peak lunchtime/afternoon.
