I don't post over here normally (though I do lurk) but we're going to the UK in April for three weeks and I am in need of ideas for clothes and shoes.
So, hit me with your best versatile wardrobe options! Right now I'm primarily looking at how to style myself during this trip, so sizes and prices aren't that big of a deal. That said, if you want to be specific, I have a few thousand to spend (though obviously the less it costs, the better) and I'm hovering in plus size because of my giant rack. Unfortunately most plus size items hang on me weirdly, but I've got to fit the girls so tailoring is usually needed.
What would you take to wear in England, Ireland and Scotland?

I really love the J Crew (reg or factory) skinny cords - I try to wear non-jeans in Europe For the basics I would pack booties/boots/oxfords, scarves and a good trench.
Where in England are you going? The weather is all over the place at the moment! Some parts are having snow, it's sunny where I am, but we had a huge hail storm yesterday.
Could you pack a capsule wardrobe and shop like mad when you get here? If you're looking for something British yummy-mummy, you can't go wrong with something like Joules? (Like a tweedier Boden).
Layers are always good, all year round. April can be warmish (60s) or coldish (40s) or in-between in London and even colder up in Scotland (it could still snow). It can have sun, rain or just be grey. We're quite casual over here, so jeans are good almost anywhere. I tend to wear boots almost all year round, though I also wear Toms or dressier sneakers/good flats when the weather is decent. I ALWAYS have an umbrella packed and I rarely wear a dedicated rain jacket, though I always have a jacket of some sort.
For night's out, you can still wear jeans. If it's at the warmish end of the spectrum, most people go for skirts to go out. Nothing too dressy unless it's a 5 star sort of place (and even then you'll see people in everything).

This is good to know! I'm also heading to London/Scotland at the end of May and I have two pairs of shorter boots I'd love to bring as they are my most comfy out and about shoes. So I won't seem odd wearing boots in Scotland in May?
