DH and I are taking out first real vacation in ages, and we're planning driving the Oregon and northern California (including SF) coast.
I'm a 16/18 teetering between plus and xxl misses and thinking I might need to add some pieces to my Texan wardrobe for the trip. A rain coat maybe? Some attire that will allow for hiking up or down to the beaches and rocky coastal terrains but not look like I'm coming from the gym? Some late-spring packable dressier outfits for a nice dinner in Portland or wine tasting in Napa.
Locals, what does coastal June weather typically bring for you?
I'm also open to suggestions for a purse for such travel.
Ooo June is a tough month bc it could just as easily be 55 and drizzly, or 65 and sunny. I'm in Seattle but I think you'll find that to be true of the Oregon coast and SF. You can generally count on the coast to be cooler and more windy as a rule. It's also super casual in the areas where you will be so pack for comfort and less for being fashionable with exception of dinners out. My suggestion would be to bring lots of layers. Maybe pick up some cute Kavu or Northface layering pieces. If I'm going to the beach in June out here I would mostly be in jeans and a hoodie with a tee underneath. Or leggings and a tunic. It's cold on the beach! I usually just wear sneakers. Maybe you'll get lucky with the weather though. It will still be fun even if it's overcast. It's just a different beach experience
It's spendy but I really like Kavu for my weekend kicking around clothing. I feel cute in it and functional given our weather. I wear a 14 and usual go with an XL www.kavu.com/Category/51_1/Womens.aspx
Lurker here ... I'm about your size and I did a PNW trip a couple years ago. I live in the NYC metro area.
I wore capris a lot (I don't like shorts), with various tops and a thin zippered hoodie or a yoga jacket on top for weather.
I own a couple of the Lands' End fit-and-flare dresses, which are very comfortable - and I can get away with wearing a L instead of XL! I wore them with a cardigan or jean jacket on top, and Jockey Skimmies underneath. I don't have this particular pattern but they have released a few different patterns each year in the same cut/style: www.landsend.com/products/womens-fit-and-flare-dress/id_280129?sku_0=::37S
I don't remember the purse I brought, but I like to use cross-body bags on vacation so my hands are free.

Main pieces to pack:
- lightweight waterproof jacket (resistant it ok if you won't be outside as much/want to spend less $ on one) - lightweight scarf - Cardigan - flats for when it doesn't rain - shoes for when it rains (like booties)
Basically you can then use those to layer over if it is wet or a little colder and if it's nice, then you can wear jeans and a light sweater or sometimes even a dress.
