Not Ireland, but we had recruiters contact us about positions in New Zealand (nursing). Depending on the field, they're handing out work permits like candy. Unfortunately they don't come with total loan repayment.

Omg do it! I want to move there so badly!
We seriously considered it, except for the whole 3 kids, 3 cats, a dog, and a shit-ton of student loans. That's a large headache.

I was just about to edit after reading your post above. We won't do it for similar reasons- dog and a kid. The dog is too old to move and our parents would be beside themselves if we moved DS out of the country.
DH is working on a doctoral degree though and we've talked about doing a couple years abroad once that's complete. He could teach pretty easily and I would love to give DS the life experience of living somewhere else.

This is how we feel. We'd jump at the chance if we didn't have so many animals. Maybe not New Zealand, because it's a little far, but who knows. Our dog is a pit so that makes moving abroad harder. But the cats are getting up there in age so hopefully our dream becomes reality soon.
Sounds like a great place to take a relaxing vacation. But unless they have really good high speed internet and cable, it could get really boring there.
There are no trees. None. Sure it's green, but trees probably cannot grow because of the wind.
So while it may not get below freezing regularly, it is probably windy all the damn time. And in the winter you may go weeks not getting the chill out of your bones.
I wonder how long the ferry ride is to the mainland? It wouldn't be such a bad place to live if you could easily get to the mainland a night or two a week.
But man - if you got into a spat with a neighbor, you are SCREWED.

probably a half hour or so? Last time we were in Ireland we took a ferry to the Aran islands and I think that ferry ride was like 20-30 min? Inisturk seems to be similarly far off the coast.
The main issue was that the ferry didn't run in certain weather.
DH and I actually semi-seriously just discussed this. We decided we're totally in. Close enough to the mainland and on the side of Ireland we like.
ETA: actually looks like this tiny island is a little closer to the mainland.
