After booking our Europe adventure, we realized we just don't have the funds for me to also do DC. I'm so sad I won't get to see everyone. But I will FO SHO be holding down the tracking fort here and be your ultimate virtual cheerleader. Perhaps even with Jesus lol.

Love you guys.
First I wanted to make a "that's what he said" joke over the pull out comment.
Does anyone know the last date to sign up for the 10k? We have others in our running group here who are debating the 10k.
We also have one more runner looking for a full bib if you know of anyone trying to offload it.
Mine is up for grabs, PM me on Facebook as I'm not on here much.
she may have found one yesterday evening. I'll find out and let you know. I'm not on facebook, so will just PM you here. I hate we won't get to see you
You could also go hog wild if it's nice out and you want to see things and metro to the king street station in Alexandria and then walk/trolley down King street to the waterfront and then take the water taxi across. which will not be free, but could be fun if you're looking to turn it into an activity. Lots of shops and bars and stuff on King Street, and the water taxi is kinda fun.
Or if you're really feeling squirrelly, you could take a bikeshare bike there. You can pick up the Mt. Vernon trail in Crystal City pretty easily, and then it runs right to the ped/bike path along the beltway over the river which goes into Nat. Harbor. Or bike to the water taxi (mt. vernon trail goes right by there) if you don't want to bike the whole thing. Everything's pretty flat through there so it's easy.
So are we close enough to this race yet that we can talk about what everybody is doing? Is there any sort of plan for after we've cheered everybody across the finish line?
Is there an email happening for this? Wasn't cheshire making the group email happen? She has since bowed out of the race (and the board?), so...is somebody in charge?

Old Town is my favorite area - so we could definitely water taxi.
No biking for me. I don't bike normally, and i'll be 27 weeks pregnant. I love the mt vernon trail and ran it on a vacation in DC while my husband biked it. Thanks for these suggestions!

Oh, right! I keep losing track with the current crop of H&F babies.

I can't run the race anymore, but I plan to spectate and cheer. My husband is running it, and I may hang out somewhere close to the end to try to help pace/motivate him over the last few miles, depending on what he wants me to do.
Nothing officially yet. Let's get something done by the end of the day?
Options:
1. Meet up for brunch in the district the day before the race 1a. Pre race dinner? I know people are locked into their nutrition so that's why it's a question mark. 2. My house is available for shenanigans, the only caveat being that I'm half an hour outside of the district. But we can do whatever whenever and hold all of us. 3. Something post-race, for the marathoners and 10kers.
I don't think logistically I can manage to get myself and baby into the city both days. Mr. GT does his long runs on Sunday so it might be easier for me to manage #3, but I am down for whatever the consensus is.

The thing about #3 that would be of some concern for planning a reservation is the rolling start for the marathon, plus the z factor of everyone's badass finish times.
Yeah, deciding on a time will be super tricky, but I'd love to do an after-race thing. I'm not sure I can make it to anything the day before sadly. To-do list is out of control this time of year.
Also - I have my cowbell ready for cheering in the marathoners! Just need to figure out what I'm doing with it while I run. I guess I should plan to do bag check with a jacket and my cowbell? I've never bothered to bag check anything before.
But I'm pretty flexible being just a 10ker, so whatever ya'll decide hopefully I can make it. I'm not picky. Also - I'm similarly far out of the district as Cupcake, but I am near BWI, so if anybody needs a ride feel free to hit me up.

I think the easiest and least stressful thing to do would be 1 or 2. Since I don't know DC at all, I can't be helpful and actually make a suggestion.
That's not to say something couldn't still happen for Sunday, but I think Sunday may end up being more of a last-minute thing.
Does everyone in the marathon know their start times?

I'm also thinking 1 or 2 would be easiest.
I'm hoping to start towards the beginning of the rolling start which starts at 7:55. I'll probably be out there for 5-5.5 hours depending on bathroom lines and how I feel.
I'm thinking crystal city would be best for cheering location, but I would be up for doing more than one. Who is planning on just cheering?
As far as a GTG, It's going to a busy weekend. We have two other parties we're supposed to go to. I'm still figuring out logistics. I think a day before brunch would work best for me.

I'm planning to spectate, but also help pace my husband during the last few miles. I haven't figured out if I'm going to wait for him before or after the bridge. I really need to look at the new course map and figure that out. I'd love to cheer for all of you, too, but I haven't met some of you before, so I don't know who to cheer for! We need to create an H&F running shirt so we can find each other.
Unfortunately I can't commit to doing something on Sunday post-race, because I need to get back home to relieve the babysitters and take over kid duty so DH can rest and recover. I could probably get together some time on Saturday. But don't plan around me. I have family in town this weekend, and DH needs to go to the expo at some point on Saturday, so even Saturday is a question mark.
Also, 10kers and cheer squadders, do you want to come up with a group cheering plan for the marathoners? I know I'd like to be at the end of the Bridge of Doom if possible. With my cheer costume. And snacks. And beer.
You'll likely finish well ahead of me since you're speedy pete these days, so I'm counting on you to stake out a good spot, text me where you are and I'll join you? Or does it make more sense to wait and all head there together? My checked bag will have my cowbell and snacks in it. Anything else?
Who else is running the 10k now that all the chips are down? emilyj and....?
just let me know where & how long y'all plan to hang wherever you are cheering. I don't expect to see anyone as i'll be bringing up the rear....but i will look!
