I'm no longer doing the 10K due to some plantar fasciitis issues, but might be able to meet up on Saturday. I won't be able to meet up on Sunday after the race, but hope to cheer on racers for at least a little bit.

Yes, please report on where you guys will plan to be and if you'll have anything distinctive, because I may turn into a zoned out zombie and miss you otherwise. Lol

I'm planning to cheer in costume.
Yep! I'm breaking out the Cheetah costume again.
Right now my running club is going to be in Crystal City so I think that is where I want to go. But I may jump around. It's going to be a busy weekend so I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of everything.

YES - i can definitely pick you out then! You were easy to spot last year!

I'm still in for the 10K. I think. I'm going back and forth. It's not going to be a PR for me, it's a busy weekend, and I don't feel like schlepping out to the pentagon. But I already paid for it so I might as well. Anyone running the 10K in the low-mid 9 pace and want a buddy?
I can do brunch on Saturday morning but I'd have to bring my kid with me. I could do something on Sunday after the race but I can appreciate that the marathoners are likely not interested in that.

Can we start a new post? this one is unwieldy
*raises hand* That's the high (low? fast I mean) end my goal pace. And if I can do it, it WOULD be a PR for me so I'd love some motivation to stick with it.
I've never actually run a race with somebody though. I mean, I've run races at the same time as people, but never actually stuck together. Just a warning that I probably have questionable running buddy etiquette or something. Also I sniffle a lot when I run (I know that annoys people). But I'd love to try and keep up with you!

To be clear that would be a challenging pace for me. I might not be able to sustain it but running with someone will keep me from being all 'tra la la! Out for a leisurely jog!' And actually push myself.
What's your goal pace? And your PR?
My last 10k (in May) was 59 even (9:30 pace) and my last 5k (2 weeks ago) was a low 27 (8:45 pace). McMillan says this means I can do a 56 min 10k, but that 27 minutes was really hard and I haven't run more than 5 miles in maybe a month?

So this all sounds very familiar. My last good 5k was 27:xx 3Rd week in september, same week I ran the first half of my 12 miler in about 59 and then a week after that I managed a 27:xx0 minute run at the end of a sprint tri. But then bike trip, knee pain, blah blah so I haven't run more than 4 since. I ran a crap 29 minute 5k last weekend but I just wasn't feeling that one. Knee felt great though. My goal is just to break an hour, and I'm aiming at 9-9:30 on pace. PR is 1:01:39.

Alright. Let's do this. We'll start at 9:30 pace for the first 5k and if we're feeling good we can try to do a negative split in the last 5k. The hills are in the first 5k too.
Ok...unless somebody tells me they've already done this, I'm going to start a list of our racers so the cheer squad can keep track of y'all. Expect nagging if I don't already know your details...
irie and al320 - you two still doing the 10k? What's your story? Are you planning to meet up with the rest of the cheer squad wherever it is that we end up? Feel free to PM me.
I volunteer as tribute to be the person randomly texting all the things to all the people if one of those is needed? People trying to find each other and so forth. Anybody who wants it can have my cell number, just PM me. I'm singing up for text tracking of all the people's who's names I actually know (not sure if you get some sort of notification when somebody does that...but the creeper is just me. It's cool). lb2006 and fuckyourcouch both have PM's because I think you're the only two marathoners I don't have.
My plan right now is to run 10k with ebeth , pick up my checked bag at the finish festival with my cowbell and snacks, find @vtcupcake and emilyj , and then head to the bridge for cheering on the marathoners. Because that's what cupcake tells me my plan is mostly. I've never actually spectated a marathon before... (unless we stay in Crystal City. I guess we could also move closer to the finish over time. Hence the texting and such, yeah?)
ETA: I'm now at maximum creeper - ya'll should have a PM if I'm under the impression you're still attending either to run or cheer, and with some help I figured out who everybody is, except irie who doesn't post much. But you live near me, so...get in touch and lets make sure we meet up!

Thanks...im sort of in a state of denial. My achilles has benched me. Im in the second of 3 weeks of no running and PT. We shall see what happens after that.
