I don't even know how to say this...so I guess I'll just come out and say I failed my comprehensive exam. Just found out like 20 min ago.
I feel embarrassed, angry, humiliated and stupid and lots of other bad things...yet also nothing at the same time.
This sucks.
Sooo this means I'll be pushing back graduation another year. Not sure what I'm gonna do all next year when everyone else is out on internship, cuz I will be done with classes this year, and likely will have defended my dissertation by next summer.
Awww, Bimbi, I'm so sorry. That sucks. I'm glad you found it out on a Friday, though, so you can have some time for it to sink in and to drink a lot if needed
You have to wait an entire year to take it again? Do you know how close you were to passing?
You aren't stupid and shit happens. I had a couple of friends who failed the bar exam the first time and they felt the same way you do now. They took it again and passed, and now years later I'm sure it's not even something they think about because they have busy careers and things worked out just fine. It sucks right now, but it's all going to work out.
Yeah, I'm glad I don't have to face any clients or people other than my husband until Tuesday, ha.
I could potentially take it again on Oct 19th, but I don't think that's enough time for me to review, especially considering this is a two strikes and you're out scenario. So if I were to fail again, I would be kicked out of the program.
The minimum passing was 21 points, and I had a 19.655, so it was a decent chunk. I passed one section, and was just below passing on all of the rest. So it averaged out to a big fat FAIL.
I'm so sorry, Bimbi! I think what MavJen said was perfect - we have all been there and it's doesn't feel good. You worked hard and you should be proud of your hard work. Do something fun for yourself this weekend.
Aw, babe. I'm sorry. Ditto Dawgs that you're not stupid. Ditto that we've all been there. I failed my first professional exam in my previous career. I was totally humiliated since I thought I had done really well. I missed by one lousy point. I was so bummed that I called in sick the next day.
Honestly, the worst thing I did was let that exam score get to me self-esteem-wise. Cuz I was damn good at what I did. Let this be a humbling moment. This is probably not the first time you will experience disappointment and it probably won't be your last. The best thing you can do is brush yourself off and figure out how to pick yourself up. This one test does not define you, even if it'll mean some consequential things over the next year. What will define you is how you persevered despite this exam.

I am so sorry. It sounds like you know what's best for you. Like Mav said, we have all been there at some point. You're a fantastic and very intelligent person. Everyone has off days and that was one of your bad ones. Take the weekend to relax and regroup. Don't beat yourself up too much. I know it's easier said than done, but you've got this next time since you know exactly what you need to do.
So sorry to hear that Bimbi! You're definitely not stupid, and as much as this sucks now, you will get through it and kick ass next time. Have some drinks and try to push it from your mind this weekend, although like FCG said, I know it's easier said than done. *BIG HUGS*

I'm sorry...that seriously sucks. I hate standardized testing...they mean jack shit. I don't think that one test score speaks to your intelligence and I'm sure you will ace it next time. For now, there is always wine...
You should be proud of how far you've come with your education and your future career. This is just a test score and is not a reflection of how intelligent you are. I hate tests. They suck. As GD pointed out, glad you found out about it today, the start of the three day weekend. Don't beat yourself up too much about it.
Thanks ladies!! The kind thoughts are very helpful right now!
I found out a friend of mine also failed...she also happens to be my coworker.
Ironically enough, we just both won a Saving Lives award today for our contributions at work. There was a huge ceremony this afternoon honoring us, another coworker, and some legislators and others in the field who advocated for the Emergency Medical Services Act that was passed earlier this year.

That is awesome! Congrats you've got nothing to be embarrassed about.
Sorry to hear! It's very cliche but everything to me happens for a reason. So don't think of it as failing, just think of it as the timing not being right just yet.
Oh Bimbi, I am sorry! That is really tough!! BUT, I know from a lot of my friends that did their PhDs that it is completely normal to not pass the first time around. You are smart and amazing and you will and can do this!! Just give yourself some time to let the crappy feelings soften and study for it again.

Bimbi- So sorry to hear about that. Like mav said, we've all been there. It's all about the rebound, and it sounds like you will CRUSH it the next time. Good luck, and congrats on the award!
i'm so sorry that sucks. test scores are not a reflection of you or the quality of your work. and honestly, none of your clients will care if you failed your test first time around (only you will!)

All of this! I am sure you will pass it the next time. Hang in there.
