They replaced all our 4 way stops in our neighborhood with traffic circles. I've almost been hit so many times. No one stops, even if you were already well into crossing the intersection. I've had cars come within inches of me and the stroller. And we've had an increase of really bad accidents. One car ended up upside down in someone's lawn. My street is not a high traffic, high speed place. I hate it so much.
I'm pretty sure circles, roundabouts, and rotaries are different. I like the roundabout, but find the others confusing.
I thought they were just different names for the same thing, but according to the WA state DOT, I am wrong. Traffic circles and rotaries are the same thing, and are bigger than roundabouts. Apparently we don't actually have any rotaries in our area, just roundabouts. We also have "calming circles" which are basically flower beds in the center of a small neighborhood intersection meant to slow traffic in residential areas.
This weekend BF and I were at a shopping center looking for a specific store. Siri (that bitch is so annoying sometimes) told us to "enter the traffic circle, then exit the traffic circle." No specifics on which of the 6 openings we needed to use. Sigh.

Hmmm....Google Maps has always properly guided me through any roundabouts I might encounter.....
