I never have. Now if they pop up on my people you may know on fb because of their phone number or something I'll go snoop, but I've never just looked them up beforehand. Maybe im naive.

Google, Facebook and my state's circuit court website. There have been quite a few people with multiple arrests for domestic abuse, multiple drunk driving a and once, killing an animal where he was found not guilty by reason of mental defect. I'd rather know this before meeting people, kwim?

Yes. But I'm always honest about it once I meet them. For some reason they seem surprised that I would do that and that they were very easy to find. (Thanks to my 17 yr old employees who can find anyone without even trying)

Ok, I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one lol.. I'm an (almost) obsessive googler so I guess it makes sense that I would do this before meeting a total stranger.

What if you found some possibly sensitive information about the person? Would you tell them you found it when you met (just to be honest) or just wait and see whether it comes up in conversation?

Oh yes I google. I'm usually always able to find them. If I find something that makes me uncomfortable I usually cancel. It only happened once.

Lawyer over here who has to find info on a lot of individual plaintiffs. Westlaw people search is my friend.

I'm not dating, but if and when I do, I will research without hesitation.

Once I googled a guy and it came back that just 6ish months before he'd been arrested for having a .38 BAC at his place of employment (which was definitely not a place you should drink at ever) and lost his career license.

I offer this service too! I once reverse image searched a tinder guy for a friend and found out the photo was of a model.

I also am an attorney, so, I Westlaw people search/OSCN/everything for people. It's like figuring out a mystery!

...I can't even find property tax info or divorce records for people I date. Obviously I fail at this. I once Looked up a guy on the sex offender registry but it turns out he didn't even give me his first name. He used his middle. so... I fail...

funny you should mention reverse photo searches ... something didn't add up about this guy I met through OKC who claimed to be a Navy SEAL ... the photo he told me NOT to share was actually from Pintetest !!

My best friend gets me to google all of her dates and I can always find them. The most recent served time for losing $30m of his investors money and lying about it while he tried to make the money back.. the articles about him said he also raised money for charities which was never actually donated. She asked me for his name so she could look him up but I told her no because otherwise she wouldn't give him a chance, and there is a chance he has changed.. he was actually open with her about it all after their first date, but who knows if he has really learned or if he believes his own lies? I told her to proceed with caution.

HELL YES. If I find nothing negative, it at least confirms what I'm told. Like how long someone's been divorced or their position at work, etc.

I used to work as a paralegal too. It was my favorite part of my job. My coworkers like to tease me about about my sleuthing skills, but they come in handy with my current job locating vehicles for repossession. And they always come to me to stalk their dating partners.

I always Google dates. I got a little weirded out because I came across SO's marriage and divorce records when we first started dating. He didn't mention he was ever married for a long time, but i didn't want to mention it and seem like a weirdo stalker. He was pretty young and they never even lived together. They just decided to go get married on a whim.

Yes! Always! I google pictures, names, and phone numbers. Sometimes I'll find bits of info and then google the bits of info combined with the name or phone number. Sometimes once I find out their address I'll even look into google street view, or property records. It might seem extreme, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. And honestly, I just assume they're the doing the same with my info.

I've never found anything bad, to be honest. Maybe I've just been lucky. But it's sometimes funny to see what kind of results you get from googling the phone number. Sometimes it's just random and bizarre and unrelated, other times it's just very informative.

See, I feel like I would feel so weird about knowing without them knowing.. I think I'd have to say, hey I googled you, and see how they reacted haha If they thought I was a weird stalker, prob not the guy for me anyway
