I went to a "nerd school." It was #3 in the UC system when I went there, if I remember correctly. Pretty sure it still is. I enjoyed college quite a bit, found a group of friends I clicked with, and generally had a good time. Our group threw raves on our college campus, one of which was so big they had to shut down one of the freeway offramps leading to the school because of all the traffic. I was a bit frustrated in some of my classes because they reminded me too much of HS (see: bullshit scantron tests reference in disappointments post). The classes that really encouraged me to stretch my mind and my perspective were awesome. The UC I went to has a college system, so your requirements vary by which college you attend within the university (confusing, I know). Mine was all about social justice, which was a perfect fit for me. I LOVED our core course series.
Grad school was fine. I went to National University, so the whole time I felt like it would be absolutely ridiculous for me not to do well, considering where I'd done undergrad. I made some good friends and some very good contacts. One of my former classmates referred me for my new job!

Sometimes I miss college, but I don't miss where my life was at back then and how misguided I was. Hands down the most fun times in my life, but that fun also came with really dumb decisions...
I did everything... I commuted (which sucked), lived on campus, and then had my own apartment before moving back on campus into a campus apartment/suite style living. The best times were definitely when living on campus. My H went to the same school, but didn't have anywhere near the same experiences since he lived at home and commuted. We both say that no matter how close the schools are that our future kids pick, that we'll encourage them to live on campus since H regrets missing out on the college experience. Some of my best friends to this day are from the good times at school.
