Holy heavy weight Batman sweetptater way to go! That's awesome wambam.
I wore a pair of work pants that I haven't fit into probably since the wedding. We're coming up on 2 years next month, so there was happy dancing happening.

Tomorrow is the day I have been working towards since February! I am running a 75 miles relay race with 6 other people. I have two legs of the race..... a 2.8 and 4.9 miles.
It's been a bit of a journey for me. I used to run a lot more but in the last few years just let it go. This January I decided I couldn't live like this anymore and started to run again. I wasn't overweight just felt uncomfortable. In February I was invited to do this race and that lit a fire underneath me. I've done several 5ks in the past but this was a totally different kind of race. It was sink or swim. I had to do the work. I could barely make it a half mile without needing to stop. I'm up to 3 continuous miles now and my body has changed so much. I have muscle definition in my legs! I did a 10k a few weeks ago to test myself and really surprised myself.
So tomorrow is the accumulation of lots of time, money (Holy hell, between race fees, shoes, clothes and a Garmin watch I'm done for while), planning and effort. I am bouncing off the walls can't focus on anything should probably quit drinking coffee this morning excited!
I am up to 8 min running on C25k which i started April 1. Long way to go to the MCM 10K but i'll do it. Funny that i have the same "how the hell am i going to run 6 miles when i can barely squeak out two" thoughts i had when i did this before. It's not a pretty run but i am pushing myself through it.
I am running a lunch now too which i have never done before.
I need to work on learning how to pace. During my "run" portion i just run and it is all over the place. I have no idea how you fancy runners know you are at a certain pace at all times.
My fab is that I have the day off today and the weather is perfect. I'm anticipating an even more fabulous afternoon- going to see Kathrine Switzer speak and hopefully get my copy of Marathon Woman signed.
I was super inspired by @vtcupcake, and her marathon recap that I've decided I need to stop screwing around and "Be an athlete." I've declared May weight loss month, so I can shed some weight for my next race. I lost 2.5 lbs this week. I'd like to lose another 5-10 before my fall half.

I am definitely not a fancy runner but I had to buy a running watch to help me with my pace. I had a hard time with always going to fast and running out of breath or tiring out so much that I couldn't complete my mileage goal that day. I used my watch to find a pace that was comfortable enough to challenge me but not wear me out and now I just make sure I stay right around there. Sure I could I have just learned to listen to my body ques better but it is way easier for me to just look down at my wrist quickly at numerical data. I have enough problems just mentally keeping myself from quitting, not getting hit by a car and making sure I don't trip over a stick or crack in the pavement.
My long runs are on Thursday nights since I have my brick and long bike rides are on the weekends. The son of one of my friends has track and field practice on Thursday at the high school near our house, so we are planning to run together during his track practice. It is so nice to have company for part of my long run.

Ha although I was totally inspired by @vtcupcake's recap too, I decided this week is a zero workout week. I feel like I just need a mental break in order to make it feel like less of a chore. And maybe for my body to start feeling like a pile again to give me extra motivation?

Do you have any recommendations for where to do longer rides? I didn't really ride last time I lived here

I have a basic garmin (the 110?) I know when i going too fast but then i slow down to fast walking so i need to find something in between. I am a gold medalist 11:30 min mile and i want to get under at least to 11 but 10 is like a fantasy. My big pr for the Philly 1/2 2013 was 2:28....11:18 and this was a 8 min run 1 min walk sweet spot i found.
My fab is running 6.5 miles yesterday on my lunch break. That has been my longest run to date. I plan on doing 3 today. More than likely won't get any runs in this weekend since we will be camping at the lake.

OrangeBanana, your name is giving me some grade school nostalgia!
I was teaching elementary grades when came up with this screen name. I had played this game earlier in the week with my class so that's how it came to be!

Well I'm glad you consider yourself a gold medalist! I'm right there with you! I try to take it down to a 10:30 mile but can't keep that up for more than a couple miles at a time. My goal is less than 10 too. Keep working at it. We will both get there at some point!

I went back to a strength training routine that I was doing last year, so I lifted Tuesday and Thursday. I am SO sore today, but I love it. I dropped the weight down a bit since I had been using lower weights/higher reps while training for Broad Street and didn't want to push myself the first week out. I feel confident that I'll be back to where I was soon.
My goal is to be able to use barbells for bench press and squats and stuff.

So you feel like you're running too fast? You should be running at a pace you can hold a conversation with. It's helpful if you have a running buddy, but if you don't have anyone, maybe just try talking to yourself a little and if you find yourself struggling, then you should slow down.
