Ok, also- they don't want her getting manicures at the salon anymore. That's my moms THING. So I'll do them. But I bite my nails, so I need tips and links to products. Help! loonylunalovegood? iamali Anyone?
HUGE HUGS FIRST OF ALL!!
Also, a good base coat and top coat will do her wonders. I use Orly Bonder as my base and Seche Vite as my top. Zoya is my favorite brand for color. A good glass file will do wonders too.
You used to have a step-by-step, right? Do you still? I rally have only had like two manis ever haha. Need to break it down
Post on a local Facebook group, maybe you can find someone willing to come over and do manicures at home?
Also, not saying you have to do this at all, but when a friend went through chemo for breast cancer a group of her friends went over and shaved their heads as well. She said it was equal parts sad, hilarious and touching.

I second all of this! Orly Bonder and Seche Vite. I have never tried Zoya, but Essie and OPI are my favs.

Aw Fuck that is hard!!!
You are definitely choosing the lesser of two evils.
My mom got her hair cut pretty short and even when that was falling out by the clumps, it was so said. At one point I hugged her and ended up with a clump of hair and I stood there holding it in my hand not sure what to do so I put my hand behind my back and she saw that and it was just all so awful
then my dad shaved her head, and honestly it was like instantly better
so many people pushed her to wigs. She had fun with hats/scarves but once she got her confidence up to be bald, i really tried encouraging her there
her thing was, and i understand, when you are bald suddenly you look like you have cancer...it's a secret you are keeping from anyone, not even strangers.

I am so sorry. It is hard but she has something to look forward to: new, better hair. My mom lost all her hair after chemo. She used to have fine hair. They grew back thick and wavy. They were beautiful.

I love you and you really should stop being sorry - you are not being an eeyore. Big, scary, weird things are happening. You are being a strong human, not a sad donkey. YOU ARE AMAZING.
I wish you strength, love, and light as you go through this process with your mom. It's going to be hard and I know you can do it. <3

Aww, huge hugs to both of you. I did my mom's when I was 19, and we cut it to a super-short pixy first. I know other people have dyed it crazy colors before cutting it, too, just to have some fun pictures.
I hope she recovers quickly, and that you're doing okay, too.
ETA: My mom's hair was her THING, you know? Which made it tough, too. She really embraced turbans, and wasn't a huge fan of wigs. Granted, this was forever ago, so I hope wigs are more comfortable now if that's the route your mom chooses. I agree with other posters, though. She felt EMPOWERED when we shaved it, for the first time in a long time, instead of helpless. She wanted her own control. So, looking at it that way, it can actually be a positive (though still difficult) thing!
