My 12.5 year old daughter communicates exclusively (no texting) through snapchat with her friends. All they do is send pics back and forth. I don't get it.

At least twice a day, I have to tell my students to put Snapchat away. They also don't understand that I do not want my picture taken, especially without permission.
Which also has me wondering, do you think it's appropriate for teachers to post pics of their teenage students on FB (I would not nor do I have any interest in doing so, but some of my colleagues do this regularly).

No, I don't. No one should be putting my children on social media without my permission.

I'm going to assume the teenagers gave the teacher permission to post, does that matter?

No. Never appropriate. My district recently put an official policy in place against this. I don't care how cool what you are doing is.
My dad just signed up for instagram. I have rejected his friend request because LEAVE ME ALONE, DAD, but feel this means I will have to flee to Snapchat.
