Went to HS tonight. The boat is so convenient! We went to the Beauty and the Beast show, then did single rider for RNR which took longer than we thought. Putzed around and went to dinner at Brown Derby. I was underwhelmed. The food was good but not great for the price and the service was bad.
After that we did FP ToT, met Olaf, and Star Tours. We went to Fantasmic but left a little early to go to Beaches and Cream for dessert. I got a "Sunshine Fountain" which was rainbow sherbet, vanilla ice cream, and seltzer blended with whipped cream and candied orange slices on top. Soooo good and our waitress was super sweet which made me feel better about the shitty service at Brown Derby.
Tomorrow is a flexible day. I have conference stuff in the morning, then pool and who knows. Maybe Disney Springs, maybe Boardwalk. We will see!
Today was great! Conference stuff until 3. Then H and I went to the pool and had drinks, showered, and went to Disney Springs. Had dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express, then took the bus back to YC and walked over to the Boardwalk for ice cream. The new place, Ample Hills Creamery, was so good!
Now we are chilling in our room. Tomorrow we switch to POR and do a full day at MK.
I feel a bit bad, my mom and sister are watching the boys and P is apparently not sleeping well.
We got there by 8:30 and headed to our 8:45 BOG reservation. We were supposed to be there before park open at 9, but then they changed park open to 8 last minute so our plan didn't really work. Oh well.
Breakfast at BOG was really good. H and I split the Croque Madame and that plus the pastries it comes with was more than enough for two people. I was side eyeing the cost before but you really do get a lot.
Then we did FP for 7DMT. I was a bit underwhelmed. It's good and fun and all but kind of short. I wouldn't wait in the crazy long standby line for it anyway.
Spent the rest of the morning in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Did Mad Tea Party walk on, then met Minnie/Daisy/Goofy/Pluto in Fantasyland. I really liked the setup back there, it's tucked away so nobody knows about it and the lines were short--10 minutes for each set of 2 characters. We did some shopping and ended up buying a backpack with the $19.95 deal because my purse was not big enough for a water bottle and souvenirs.
Had a FP for Space Mountain, so we did that, then Monster's Inc Laugh Floor to cool off. Headed to Cosmic Ray's for lunch and split the chicken again. More than enough food but finding a seat anywhere was insane.
After lunch we headed across to Adventureland. H did Aladdin's Carpets while I got us Dole Whip Floats. It was so frigging hot by this point and I was starting to reach "over it" territory so we watched the Country Bear Jamboree just to cool off a bit and I was happier, LOL.
Then we did our last FP at Big Thunder Mountain RR and did Splash Mountain standby. (Longest line we waited in all day, 30 minutes.) This is when shit got cray--thanks to the new FP rules we just kept checking and getting new FP. By the end of the night we had done 11 FP altogether: 2 for 7DMT, 2 Big Thunder, 1 Space Mountain, 1 Ariel ride, 1 Pooh ride, 1 Buzz Lightyear, 1 Pirates, 1 Splash Mountain, 1 Jungle Cruise. It was pretty awesome. FASTPASS TIPS: start booking as soon as you scan into your current FP attraction from the app, bring a mobile charger, and keep checking back and modifying. We lucked into a second 7DMT just checking in randomly to see if anything was better.
We had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern which was great because we were both starving. Finished dinner and just kept doing FPs. It was great! Ended the night with Wishes from the bus line and headed to POR for the second half of our split stay.
All in all it was an awesome day. We both remarked that crowds are not bad right now despite it being summer. The only time we ever had trouble was finding table service at QS places. Bus service has been great this time too.
It's super great traveling without kids although I do miss them now. It's been great to reconnect with H and we both agreed that MK was a top 10 day in our relationship history, ha.
Today we did Epcot. The weather was terrible so I actually left early and went back to the room for a nap. I can deal with rain but the humidity actually made it hard for me to breathe.
That said, we did Soarin' FP, and Living with the Land, then went to our Mission Space FP. Went through all the super long pre show, get in the pods, sit there forever and have to get off because the ride was broken. They gave us FPs to make up for it but they were tier 2 which is pretty useless. Annoying. Did single rider Test Track, Spaceship Earth FP, then dodged the rain in World Showcase to snack. We decided to cancel our Le Cellier dinner reservation and just snack which turned out to be a good choice.
Snacks were awesome as always. We did pork belly tacos and chilaquiles in Mexico, school bread in Norway, beer and a pretzel in Germany, and ice cream in France. I had the chocolate macaron ice cream sandwich there and it is the best thing I've ever eaten at Disney.
At that point I was too hot and tired so I went back to the room. H stayed there and got bounced off Mission Space for mechanical issues AGAIN, did another Soarin FP, and met Baymax for C, who is obsessed.
We had a late dinner at the POR food court which was really surprisingly good. I also ran into Shannon from Wdw prep school and introduced myself, she was really sweet.
I'm loving all your food posts! I love getting a beer and pretzel in Germany. I think the caramel apples there are the best I've ever had too. LOVE your home t! It's on my bday list to wear for our trip in the fall. Glad you and your H are having such a fun trip together!
Every time DH and I do Disney without our kids, we have the best time reconnecting. I think it's the whole "be a kid" thing - we can just relax and have so much fun together. I've loved your recap!

Home tomorrow!
Wait whut? You met Shannon!! Was she as perky and yet anal as she is on her podcast?
