So being in Georgetown when the DC primary is tomorrow has made things interesting- MIL drove here to be with us and hotels that still have rooms tonight are $400+++. We have family outside Baltimore so I think she's going to drive there to stay the night. We aren't able to get an MRI until tomorrow so we are mostly hanging out while doctors come in and out with questions. L is able to sit up more without as much help today so that's an improvement.
I hope the fact that they're making you wait is a good sign. If ithey thought it was an emergency or something that requires treatment very quickly, I imagine they'd find a way to fit you in. Hugs.
Most large pediatric hospitals have rooms for free or reduced rates for family of a child hospitalized; the Ronald McDonald house is an example. Absolutely ask the nurse to connect you to the coordinator and they will arrange a room.
Our rooms always had double beds so your MIL could stay with you or possibly be able to get her own room. Those rooms are there just for these issues;)
I'm so sorry. It sounds like you are in good hands. My younger daughter had a freak disease when she was 2, it was terrifying and so traumatic for me. Please remember to be kind to yourself, take hot showers, eat good food, etc.
My parents live in Fairfax, they have 2 guest rooms and would be happy to host your MIL for a few nights if needed. Just send me a PM if you want their info.
