Long story short...she has Hirschsprungs Disease, they removed half her colon at 11 days old, she was in the NICU for 38 days. We got to come home for 5 weeks and she started vomiting one day. Went the ER, got admitted for the night for observation. No one could figure out what was wrong. Then the surgery NP did a rectal irrigation as ordered in the morning and perforated her colon so she was rushed to emergency surgery. They ended up giving her an ileostomy bag to divert while she heals. Apparently there was another problem that had popped up after her original surgery that was probably making her sick. So blessing in disguise? Not really I'm still pissed.
She ended up going into septic shock after. Finally recovered got over that and then started having seizures. Poor girl has been through the ringer. She's been seizure free for almost two weeks and they are tinkering with her anti-seizure meds to wean off at least one of them (she's on three). No real reason they could find for the seizures so most likely theory from the neurologist is that her brain got very unhappy with how sick she got.
So in a nutshell...yeah. In a couple months, she will need another surgery to reconnect her intestines.
Oh my goodness! She and your family are in our prayers for a quick And smooth recovery! She is so beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️
jenniferl923 I'm so sorry you guys are back in the hospital. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
I'm in a fashion funk, have gained weight, and generally don't have much to add lately. I enjoy popping in periodically and seeing all your beautiful faces though!
Aww thanks for checking in, girl. I'm still here. I check in periodically but it's mainly time constraints for me that keep me preoccupied and not on the board as much. I miss you guys too!
