TTC history: I have a son who will be three on the 27th. I got pregnant with him in the first cycle after birth control. I got my nexplanon out March 2016, but then we decided to wait. Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Age:
30
TTC history:
We tried at home for a long time and are now gearing up for our first IUIs. We are a same-sex couple and donor sperm is expensive so we are currently saving up for treatments and trying to figure out what's up with my wonky cycles before pulling the trigger on anything.
Desired family size:
1 kid, 1 dog
What other boards do you visit on GBCN?
I mostly hang out on Politics and Current Events where I talk a lot about my nerdy health care job and federal policy. Also visit TTTC a lot since we'll be doing IUI and potentially other treatments so there is a wealth of knowledge and things to learn.
What are your hobbies?
My job, which I love. Hanging out with my wife and our dog. Watching trash TV.
What makes you laugh the hardest?
Our dog. I love him! He is little and looks like an old man and he's the most entertaining and loving little guy.
Who would you want to play you in a movie?
Katie Holmes? That might be overly ambitious.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Probably pony up to have the two kids we'd have if finances were no issue. But they are.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
I like generally living in the northeast US but someplace where the winters suck less and where there are beaches.
Feel free to share anything else you want us to know!
I'm clearly a crazy dog lady, as evidenced by my post!
TTC history: Just starting TTC #2. I have a 3 year old son
Desired family size:2.....maybe 3 but probably 2
What other boards do you visit on GBCN? I havent posted as much as I used to because life is crazy but I used to post on MMM and WC. I lurk on ML.
What are your hobbies? Dancing, reading...used to scuba dive and golf but havent had the time since DS was born
What makes you laugh the hardest? Physical commedy.
Who would you want to play you in a movie? Anyone who can sing because I wish I could....maybe Lea Michele
What would you do if you won the lottery? I would buy a single family house, put money away for college, take a few awesome vacations to good scuba diving locales, and continue working 1/2 days a week.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Bonaire. You can literally walk into the ocean and scuba dive.
Feel free to share anything else you want us to know.
Age: 27 TTC history: none! We are newbies preparing to TTC this fall Desired family size: 1? 2? 3? It totally depends - I want to see how we do with one (plus our two dogs!) and finances will also be a factor.
What other boards do you visit on GBCN? MM, ML, makeup
What are your hobbies? Traveling to new places, trying new restaurants, drinking wine (ha), taking our dogs to the dog park, basically living at the seaport
What makes you laugh the hardest? My mom can drive me crazy but sometimes she can be hilarious when she does not at all try to be.
Who would you want to play you in a movie? Amy poehler
What would you do if you won the lottery? Keep working!! Use the cash as security for us, my siblings & my mom
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? We are in NYC and liking it for now but are considering some places in SoCal when we look 5+ years out.
My Q: Does anyone have any advice for preparing to TTC?
Today I saw my derm and she wrote me an rx for a pregnancy friendly acne med and referred me to a high risk OB since I'm on a biologic / TNF inhibitor. I've started taking prenatal and have appointments lined up with my GYN, PCP and GI. We booked a last hurrah trip to Turks and Caicos for next month. Anything else??
tacom which borough are you in? I gave birth in NYC, and my hospital experience was great (and single rooms!).
We are in Manhattan (seaport district). I work for a hospital so my insurance makes it hard to hospital shop, but I'd love to hear your experience!
I've only ever been hospitalized once (for bowel surgery) and that was in Chicago (Northwestern Memorial). I was shocked by how many people we squeeze into a hospital room here in NYC
I just realized that I never did this. Better late than never!
Age: 29.
TTC history: TTC #1 since May.
Desired family size: For me, two. For H, as many as possible.
What other boards do you visit on GBCN? WC.
What are your hobbies? Archery. Yoga. Reading.
What makes you laugh the hardest? Definitely my dogs. They are so ridiculous and I love it.
Who would you want to play you in a movie? Anna Kendrick.
What would you do if you won the lottery? Quit my job, for sure. Pay off our debts. Remodel the house. Retire early.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? This is probably a really lame answer, but I actually love where I live now. Oregon is great.
Feel free to share anything else you want us to know! Among other chronic health issues, I have a history of severely irregular cycles, I'm naturally missing my left ovary, and my doctors have decided I most likely have endometriosis but have not confirmed the diagnosis.
Age: 37 (will be 38 in December) TTC history: TTC DS was pretty quick, once I finished my dissertation. We're now TTC #2...I just got my IUD out yesterday. Desired family size: 2 kids What other boards do you visit on GBCN? I lurk. Mostly MM Moms, Money Matters, Married Life and CE&P. A lot of the time I am quiet because my views have already been represented...and I'm very much an introvert, plus I don't like being socially awkward. So I just hang around quietly in the background. What are your hobbies? Reading is the easiest right now. I also cross stitch and bake. What makes you laugh the hardest? DH. He gets me, which I love. DS comes a close second, although he also sometimes exasperates me. Who would you want to play you in a movie? Allyson Hannigan. What would you do if you won the lottery? We have a whole plan. Use some to pay off our house, and fully fund tuition for DS and Hypothetical Second Child. We'd both still like to work/give back somehow. We'd also set aside some for a foundation; we have lots of friends who are in the arts and could use money to further their career goals, and I'd like to help with that. Maybe buy a compound somewhere for our friends to hang out? If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Los Angeles - where I do now. Although somewhere in Europe is a close second.
Hi! I'm new! Age: 35 in 1 month TTC history: TTC for DD was 14 months, I was living in a country where I couldn't receive regular care from an ob/gyn so we did not have an intervention. Once I moved countries and finally started seeing an ob we did a few blood work tests and an u/s to check for follicles and then when I ovulated that month I got pregnant which was a relief. TTC#2 was fast, we started early wondering if it would take awhile like DD but thankfully it wasn't the case. Desired family size: 3 kids What other boards do you visit on GBCN? MMM, Travel, International Living which is a bit quiet. I used to post more on H&F but I only work out at home so my workouts always seemed so boring and repetitive haha. What are your hobbies? Fitness/working out, knitting, baking What makes you laugh the hardest? TV shows (Catastrophe right now) and my kids when they say/do silly things although that usually goes from funny to a bit too crazy really fast. Also twitter haha Who would you want to play you in a movie? Gina Rodriguez (i watched deep water horizon last night and i LOVE jane the virgin) What would you do if you wont the lottery? There's a school in Zambia that we visited last year and I felt connected with the people volunteering to make it good learning environment so I'd make a large donation to them and get them lots and lots of books and uniforms and to provide school breakfast and lunches.I love my job so I'd keep working a bit but retire early and move somewhere beautiful in Africa (we currently live in Africa) where I could do a lot of running and volunteering. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Cape Town/Western Cape, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi or in Colombia where my mother is from. Maybe Buenos Aires or Bariloche
