Since the last update about the great MRI, things have been pretty grim. Very little progress with communication, behavior has been aggressive and even violent, it's just been bad.
Today, a different kid woke up. She is speaking in sentences and even engaging in pretend play. She's loving and funny and behaving well.
Here's the amazing part. My BFF and her mom, M, were looking out the window. M said she couldn't see the construction workers anymore. Sophia, from across the room, said, "That's because you're a munchkin, Grandma," and burst into laughter. Sophia's only exposure to the Wizard of Oz was my BFF reading it to her while she was in a coma. She read it cover to cover and would talk to her about what they'd read the day before, etc.
After she called her grandma a munchkin, BFF asked her if she knew anything else about the story. She knew that that Dorothy was on a yellow road and the scarecrow was smart and the lion was scared.
Please, please, please let this mean she's healing and coming back to us!
Oh, happy tears! I hope this is the beginning of wonderful, healthy future for her!
What an amazing thing your friend did while she was in a coma. I'm sure it helped pass the time and obviously the little girl was able to enjoy it, too!

That is absolutely wonderful! I will continue to keep her and everyone who loves her in my thoughts. I hope she can make a full recovery as quickly as possible.
