We are going with my parents in November (me, DS who will be almost 2 and my parents).
We'd like to get a room where there is somewhere separate to put DS to bed. it doesn't have to be a 2 bedroom, just something with a sitting area or something.
I know about AoA. Any other options?
I'm not a Disney newbie, but I've never done the renting DVC points, etc, so I don't know what that means. Is it too late to do that for November?
We're thinking we'd like onsite so DS can nap in the afternoon easily. I don't want to spend a fortune but it doesnt have to be super cheap either.

We really enjoyed our stay at BLT. It was great being able to walk to MK. It is possible a one bedroom would be sufficient for you. I have no idea if there would be any availability for this Nov. We used DVC Rental Store.

What dates are you looking at in November? I can check availability for DVC; a 1 bedroom villa would give you a separate sleeping area, kitchen and sitting area.

Your options will be the cabins at fort wilderness, jr suite at coronado springs, family suite at AoA, or two value rooms (cheapest option). The deluxe resort suite options are $$$$$$$$$.

HI, thanks!
We're looking at November 24-27
You aren't going to get DVC for those dates. Thanksgiving weekend is insane. The only thing popping up is a 1 bedroom at OKW & SSR for friday and saturday night; there is nothing available for Thanksgiving day.
If you don't mind resort hopping you might be able to find a hotel room for Thanksgiving night and then try to get a DVC villa for the weekend.
I believe there are also family suites at All Star Music.
I was going to suggest this as well. We stayed there in April and it was great. There was a separate bedroom and living space with a pull out couch and chair, small kitchenette and 2 bathrooms.

Hows the bus transportation from the Value resorts? I've never stayed at any of those. Is it a pain with strollers etc? I've always stayed at either Port Orleans, Poly, Contemporary, the old Village Resort or offsite.
I'd love to just stay at the Poly but I think I'll regret not having somewhere to put DS to bed.

Stay at Pop or AoA. They each have their own buses. All the all stars share.

I can't really say since we only used it to go to Epcot. We're semi-local and just went for a night with SIL and her BF to "drink around the world." It was quick both ways, though.

I'd consider the family suites at Music or AoA or a suite at Coronado. Disney doesn't guarantee adjoining (next to each other) or connecting (connected by a door between) rooms, so asking for that at a busy time would be a serious gamble.
Not Disney but technically onsite option that could work for you guys would be Bonnet Creek. There may be Disney Spring hotels with suite options as well, but I'm not as familiar with those. The downside would be sacrificing EMH, DME, and dining plan if any of those things are must-haves. Your FP+ booking window would also be shortened.
Is the time frame definite? It's so crowded & expensive.
It is definite,it's the only time we can go. This trip was my mom's idea as something fun for the holiday (I just had to unexpectedly file for divorce)
I went Christmas week in 2012 and survived so I figure I can handle anything Disney at this point.
I'm now thinking of abandoning the two room idea and getting a regular room at a magic kingdom resort so it would be easy to bring DS for a nap. I'm starting to think I need to just cough up the dough for the good stuff.
We are staying at the poly dvc studio rooms and they have two bathrooms. It works perfect for us since DD can sleep in her pack in play in one and we can still use the other to pee/shower.

I'm so glad you said this, I talked to the travel agent and this is what we're going to do. I'll put the PNP in the bathroom without the toilet and that can be DS 'room'. Poor babies sleeping in bathrooms all over disney!

Glad this will work for you! We stayed at AKL last time and put DD in the bathroom but had to run to the pool to pee once she was sleeping. It was annoying but manageable since we were close to the pool. This time we go I'll be 6 months pregnant so there was no way I was doing that again haha.
