DD and I have 2 mandarin oranges, 1 cup blueberries, and nuts and/or oatmeal most mornings. We use diet ginger-ale to mix it, maybe 2-3 oz each, but you can use any liquid, milk, juice, ect. For smoothies, the big difference between the blenders is the amount of liquid you need, very little with the vitamix, more with the Oster. I find that thawing the frozen fruit for a while, or over night makes it work just fine to use the non-car payment blender. I also like peanut butter, banana with milk and a bit of carnation instant breakfast.

We have a 10+ year old Oster beehive blender that we use and it works well.
I have no specific recipe. It's usually banana, yogurt, and other fruits or kale if we have it.
After I lift weights I like to combine chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and some cubes.
None of these things replace meals or really keep me full, so they are probably just extra calories I don't need. I tend to have them as a quick snack or to use up fruit & veggies that are not at their peak. I must be doing it wrong.
