The IP check. Why was it done? Why was it checked against LHC's in the first place? Did they check against everyone? Do they do that with all AEs? If so, then they'd know who every AE is. Which sort of negates the whole AE purpose.

This.  Also, even IRL there are plenty of people who can come off as nice for a couple hours at a time but who, generally, are unpleasant. Or even just nice to people who they deem worth being nice to.

IIRC they don't normally IP check everyone for AEs, but in this particular case, the AE in question created the account with an email address that was something like [e-mail] and they wanted to make sure it wasn't somebody else looking to impersonate her.

And this is related to why there are so many variations of her screen name on the member list. She once was either hacked or someone else signed up with the exact username (and proboards didn't reject it), and was posting under it, and she couldn't sign in.
