Cleaning out my closet, I found a couple of very old BR tshirts that are such better quality than what they sell now. They hadn't fallen apart, the fabric was sturdy but soft, and it didn't get stretched out or holes or shrink like crazy after one wash. I compared them to a few more recent BR purchases, and the difference is appalling. 

Where do you buy decent quality clothes these days? I'm not looking for designer stuff. I'd just like to be able to get some affordable basics and cute stuff that isn't total crap.

Honestly,  I would really look into buying gently used or NWT of the brands you like of older items.  Poshmark/Ebay/Thredup/etc.   I have had some success and have gotten some really nice stuff for cheap.  Worst case I donate it if it doesn't work out.

I definitely agree that quality has changed for the worse at many places, and just wanted to ditto pizzapizza about poshmark. For a lot of reasons, I buy a fair amount of my stuff there and I really like it a lot. The site's search features are a bit clunky, but I still would recommend it. 

PS Don't let my lack of style dissuade you. It's not the site's fault.
