DS will be five next month and our plan is for either soccer or gymnastics on Sat mornings and swim on Sunday morning.
DD is 2 1/2 and will do gymnastics on Sat mornings and music class on Sundays
We usually bring the kids to the gym daycare twice a week at night for them to play but DS is too tired to do an actual activity during the week right now. We tried it and he just begged to go home and relax.

DD1: 6 years old, super competitive, athletic. She will be doing soccer (3rd year) and hockey (1st year) in the fall.
DD2: Will be 5 in September, I call her my hippy child, lol. She wants to try dance this year so we'll sign her up for a combination tap/ballet class.
They have both tried soccer, t-ball, swim lessons (will be doing again in the fall), and bowling (will start again in the fall).
Soccer and t-ball are free through our town. Once things start to conflict and/or they stop enjoying it, they'll have to make a choice. I'm ok with them trying anything they want to as long as it works financially and with our schedules.

DS is 8. He does fall and spring soccer. Spring soccer has 1 weeknight practice and games both weekend days. Fall soccer is 2 weeknight practices and games both weekend days. Karate is 1-2 days a week year round. Cub scouts is 1-2 a month during the school year.
DS (5): - hockey (last year was an hour Saturday mornings and we did skating Monday nights for an hour; this year will be an hour Wednesday evenings and an hour sometime over the weekend. Not excited that weekends will be inconsistent. Late September - late March).
- lacrosse (one hour Monday and Wednesday evenings from April - June). We have done soccer for two previous summers and he hated it, but this was a hit this year.
- swimming (we usually do 2 week blocks of swimming in the summer, and didn't do any during the year last year, but he did really well this summer AND finally enjoyed it/didn't drive me nuts whining, so we will try and keep that up in the fall. Hoping I can find a Thursday or Friday evening session. Only 30 mins but longer drive.)

No surprise here but both girls (5&9) do MMA and jiu jitsu. They go to class m-th for 1 hour. The curriculum alternates so one day it's mma, the next bjj.
Of your options I would give the second class a shot especially if it works better with your schedule and is better organized.
DS is 8. He's in hockey 2-3 days a week then gymnastics and guitar once a week. Hockey is September to April then he does spring baseball. Sometimes they overlap.
Generally it is one team sport, one active class, and one art class at a time.
I'm the kind of parent who insists they each do at least one thing per season excluding summer and not including swimming, which is a must all year long.
For this fall, my 8 year old son wants to do karate. My nearly 6 year old daughter is obsessed with soccer and is playing on a travel team and also our local intramural team (she chooses soccer all school year). My 4 1/2 year old son will also do a soccer clinic.
My daughter did both dance and gymnastics. She was eh on dance, so we only did one season of that. She loved gymnastics and we did a few seasons of that. She wanted to do it again in the spring, but she was already doing swimming, track, soccer and tball, so I was like, yeah no. If she asks again in a less busy season, I wouldn't hesitate to sign her up.
But, I have a nanny, so the timing of practices doesn't really affect me. Either I take them, or if its during work, my nanny will. If they happen to have a conflict with one another, then a school parent will take one of them. That has happened very rarely.
J (is 3.5) did swimming lessons this spring and loved it. I'm signing him up for soccer (1 practice a week and a game on Saturday) and gymnastics during the day (2x a week that my inlaws will take him too.)
My kids are almost 6 and almost 10. They tend to do one activity at a time, as far as organized team sports, along with other after school non-athletic stuff depending on what they are interested in (our school has an after school program that's 6w long 1 day after school, my son usually picks one thing from that).
Jackson (almost 10): During the school year, one after school class, and one sport. Currently he is in football. Then in November, basketball starts. Then in the spring flag football. Over the summer, both kids do tennis and swim lessons, but not swim team (not interested in it). They may add golf next year. It doesn't really take up much time because it's something to do during the day while they are out of school. I SAH.
Scarlett (almost 6): She's been dancing since she was 2, so she does that year round. Until she was 4/5, her dance classes were during the day. Last year, we had 1 hour 2x per week after school. This year, she has five hours. One hour in the evenings Monday, 2 hours right after school on Wed, and 2 hours right after school on Friday. She is also currently doing cheer, but we only agreed to it because it's scheduled the same time as Jackson's football and she cheers for his team so it doesn't add to our schedule really. She does tennis and swim in the summer, and maybe golf next year. She probably won't do an after school class this fall, but maybe in the spring if she's interested. She may also do soccer in the spring.
This fall will be the busiest we've had since the kids got into activities, so we'll see how it goes. The bulk of cheer practice is in the summer and once games start, she'll just have to be at games, which we have to be at anyway, and that helps. Right now her practices are at the same time as Jackson's football practice, at the same place. Otherwise, I think we would have said no.
4.5yo and we do gymnastics and ballet. We haven't done both at once yet (started ballet this year, they are off during the summer and so we are doing gymnastics now), but M loves both so much that I think I'm going to let her stay in both. One will be a Saturday morning class and one will be a weekend evening class.
The commitment does suck sometimes, but it's so worth it bc she enjoys it so much

Dd1 is 9, she does choir year round and depending on the season field hockey (fall) basketball (winter) or softball (spring)
Dd2 is 6, she does dance (hip hop) and I'm going to sign her up for daisies this year
Dd3 is 4, she's starting soccer this fall, she's been doing soccer shots through daycare and loves it so we signed her up for the local team, just one night a week
Dd4 is 2 and so far she just gets carted around with the others, I want to start swimming with her soon though

DS1 (6.5) and DS2 (5): tball and soccer in the summer only. Gymnastics, swimming, art class, sometimes tennis in the fall/winter/spring. Piano year round.
DS3 (3.5): starting gymnastics and swimming this fall. Will do piano closer to 4+. He can do tball and soccer next summer with his brothers.
Piano year-round. Summer, fall, spring: swimming Winter: skiing Anna does canoe lessons in the summer Sophia also plays soccer in the summer, but that's going to end next year and she'll do canoe instead.
They also both take dance at school, but that's during after school hours.
ETA: They are 5 and 8. They have also done skating in the past, but we will do that as a family activity going further instead of lessons.
zaneyzoo, some dance studios aren't full of crazy people or ran by crazy people. I'd go check it out, and I'd DEFINITELY google some of their performances.
I like the studio my 6 year old goes to because it's more about fun than perfection (unless you're in the competition groups of course). For recitals, shoes, shorts/skirts, makeup, etc. doesn't have to match except for their costume piece. Even then, they're all whatever about what color dance shoes they wear. They also do a good job of choosing age-appropriate dance costumes.
DS, 5, participates in the following activities: Spring - tball Summer- swim lessons Fall - soccer Winter - karate We also do lots of unstructured family activities, including hiking, swimming, ice skating, and video games
DD1 is 8. She does chorus, takes an "art and yoga" class, and currently is acting in a summer play. She wants to try out in the fall, but I'm not sure if I want her to make that time commitment (10-15 hours a week) when she's in school.
DD2 isn't doing anything this summer, but will be starting gymnastics in the fall.
I'm trying to find a GS troop for DD2 so that would put them both at 2 activities. They were in gymnastics but both asked to be done after it ended in June. So they took up the swimming instead.
