I am in the middle of cluster feeding and have spent over an hour trying to get this post typed in between baby fusses. And then pro boards ate the post. I might rewrite in a couple of day, but here is the short version:
My water broke around 9:30 on Monday night, and labor progressed pretty quickly for a first pregnancy. Took a while to get the epidural, but once I did I felt great. My nurse was betting baby would arrive before her shift ended at 7pm. Around 4pm, labor stopped progressing, despite increased doses of pitocin, and at 11pm my OB strongly urged me to have a c-section. She said usually when a labor stops progressing, it is the body's way of saying a vaginal delivery is likely to turn into an emergency c-section. So we decided to do the c-section while I was relaxed and before I got more exhausted.
Baby noodle was born at 12:18am, 7lbs 15oz, 20.5 inches long. He had wedged his head into my bladder and against a pelvic bone, so would likely gave gotten stuck if I tried to push.
I wasn't thrilled about having a c-section, but it was better than I anticipated and recovery is going well. H and I are madly in love with our little boy.
