Our dishwasher smelled and I tried beach, vinegar, everything. Had someone come out and he said since our water takes a bit to get hot, the water is probably not getting hot enough to release/melt/whatever the soap completely. He advised running the faucet until the water is hot before starting the dishwasher. It does seem better now.
We had a similar problem. I scrubbed everything inside with shower/tile cleaner and ran a hot wash and dry cycle. That started us fresh. Then I began to leave the door cracked open during the day and all the way open overnight. The smell never came back.
I'm running a cycle with bleach now, I'll try this next if it doesn't help. Althiugh if I leave it all the way open my dog will definitely try to sleep in there so I'll have to figure out a way to keep it cracked. It keeps falling closed when I try. Dang fancy dishwasher!

Oh, huh. I wonder if this could be contributing. I'll try it!

Do you have an instantaneous hot water heater or a tank? If it is instantaneous it could definitely be an issue

slcjess Any progress on the funky dishwasher smell? To keep our door cracked open, I pull the drawers out slightly and it provides enough resistance to keep the door propped open.

Yes! Sorry I forgot to come back and update. Lol. Bleach and cracking it open after helped! So far it hasn't been back. You guys are the best.
I've not had a problem with smell so I dont't know if this will fix the smell but a quick way to clean it sparkly clean is to get regular kool-aid (not sugar free) in the lemon flavor and put it in your soap dispenser. Run your dishwasher empty and it will be really clean when ou are done.
