Blackish The Mindy Project The Get Down Atlanta Being Mary Jane Master of None Survivor's Remorse Fresh off the Boat (I admit, I didn't love this initially, but I kind of love the family)
Everyone should check out Insecure, which will begin airing on HBO on 10/9. It will be great, I am confident about this. Also, I really enjoyed the movie, Confirmation, about Anita Hill and her allegations against Clarence Thomas. Didn't learn anything new, but still good. I agree that Dope was so amazing and the main character is one of the main characters in The Get Down.
I never got into Jane the Virgin, but I hear it's good. I think I only watched the first one. Same with Ballers.
I wish I could add Mindy Project but she's pretty much the only diversity on the show. I will say that I've been happy that she has been bringing in some Indian culture into a few of the episodes (e.g her wedding planning or raising her son). I wish there was more though.

Her and Tamara, and occasionally, Rishi. I agree with you, though. This is why my sister doesn't like Mindy. She thinks she's wasting the opportunity.

I love Peaky Blinders. I've been watching La Esclava Blanca. I'm not even sure where this is made, but it's on Netflix. It's kind of novela style and predictable. Parts of it are really frustrating. It's also all in Spanish, so it's bringing it back for me. Narcos Jane the Virgin Black-ish
Did you guys watch "The Night Of?" That was a very diverse cast. I only watched the first episode. It seemed like it was going to stress me the hell out, but my DH and my BF loved it.
For shows with some diversity in the cast, Suits and The Last Ship are good IMO. Gina Torres is my damn role model in Suits. She owns the firm and looks amahzing in her corporate wear. I wish I could pull off half of her wardrobe. The Last Ship may not appeal to many since it's one of those end of world scenarios but I love that it has McSteamy as captain and a lot of his senior officers are POC.

They just started it here but like you said the premise is way too intense for me so I don't plan to watch it.
Guys I didn't realize that Marvel and Netflix are releasing a new series about a black superhero, Luke Cage, at the end of the month. I can't wait to watch!
Oh, man, I am so pumped for Luke Cage. I would highly recommend watching Jessica Jones to get up to speed, and also because it's an awesome series, although be aware it's got some pretty heavy themes related to nonconsent (I can elaborate more if you want by PM). I would refer you guys to this thread for some serious eye candy: pandce.proboards.com/thread/500774/luke-cage
But I saw this and was looking for some new shows, but you mentioned a lot of my favorites so I needed to fangirl.
LUKE CAGE!!!!!!! I have been so excited for this. Luke Cage is also in season 1 of Jessica Jones (also on netflix) and is in an episode or two of Daredevil Season 2 (also on netflix). I really enjoyed both Daredevil and Jessica Jones (liked Jessica Jones better, but both are good - Luke Cage has a much larger role in Jessica Jones and it foreshadows both of their origins - like how they got their "powers"). Eventually it will all culminate in The Defenders which includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. I am ridiculously excited, but Luke Cage is both mine and my h's favorite so I have been counting down the days. I'll be interested to see how much of a role Rosario Dawson has - she's been in the other two series, and I suspect she's going to be the one to tie the four heroes together eventually since she's had contact with three of the four so far.
I also am obsessed The Last Ship, but haven't gotten a chance to see the season finale yet because we were out last night. I really love that show, though I'm still not over the season 2 finale. Of course I love Captain Chandler, but the whole cast is pretty awesome. Alisha, Kara, Wolf, Danny Green, and Carlton Burk are probably my faves - I think because they are all younger, and because I refuse to be invested in Chandler and his relationships after the season 2 finale, lol. I really like Alisha (she's the one who does their navigation and her mom had a role in season 2). I don't want to spoil it, but I think I like season 2 best because I was really into that part of the story line, including her and her mom. Probably also because I intensely dislike Allison Shaw, which is hampering my enjoyment of season 3. I do like the way they've managed to keep the whole last ship thing going this season (again don't want to spoil with details). MH won't watch with me because he thinks the whole premise is ridiculous (and he is super literal and is like BUT IT IS NOT THE LAST SHIP), so I have no one to discuss it with because I don't know anyone else who watches!
What about New Girl? The main cast is 50/50 - Coach, Cece, and Winston (POC) with Jess, Schmidt, and Nick (white)
I like New Girl. I think it has sort of fizzled out a bit, though. I'll likely continue to watch it until its done because I find it entertaining enough, haha.
Sadly, I can't sit still long enough to watch an entire show, so my only contribution to this thread is KC Undercover. Maybe I'll ask my H to strap me down so I can watch some of the entries on these lists.

Whaatt? With FF commercials, it's only 22 minutes. What is KC Undercover?

it's Zendaya's show on Disney Channel. lol. My kid likes it.
Oh, and 22 minutes is nearly an eternity for my hyper self. It's a problem.

Oh! I've been wondering how she was famous. Not enough to look it up, but just a fleeting thought kind of wonder.
Well, I was going to offer up the kid from the Miles Davis movie is also in Atlanta as another selling point, but it sounds like the last thing you saw in movies was like Beat Street, so I'm out lol.

(Sorry for the intrusion)
AND every episode of Luke Cage is named after a Gang Starr song. Spotify has already been prepping me. I'm psyched.
Quantico was pretty diverse as well. I didn't finish the whole season but I watched enough that I did a good enough job supporting the show. I think it's been renewed for another year.
I started watching The Get Down and it's super fun to watch ecause, well, I'm old. I was so confused when they were showing the grown up rapper cuz I was trying to figure out who it was. I was all, um, he sounds like Nas but that's not Nas....(it's Daveed Diggs from Hamilton, I finally figured out)
