I like the seasoning on the original. Yes, I realize they probably use the same seasoning on the extra crispy, but it doesn't taste the same. Extra crispy needs more of the Original seasoning .
This exactly.
And miso, have you been to Gus's Fried Chicken yet? TN chicken joint that opened on Crenshaw and Pico, super crispy skin and juicy meat!
I have not. Thanks for the rec!
My current fave fried chicken is from Top Restaurant, a hole-in-wall Indonesian-Thai place in Pasadena. The texture of the skin is unlike anything else I've ever tasted!
For hot chicken, I'm loving Howlin' Rays. I also love the fried chicken sandwiches at Birdie's (which sells only chicken, donuts, and coffee) and Poppy + Rose.
Lol. Any chicken cooked for the public -- ie, KFC, Chick Fil A, whatever restaurant. I've gotten sick on chicken too many times to count. I only trust chicken that I clean, trim, & cook. Oddity, I know.
Did you go to Belize a while back? We had the best ever crispy fried chicken there. We kept hearing we had to try it, and I was like, sure, I'm from the south, I can get fried chicken wherever. But it was awesome.

Extra crispy.
Fried chicken is the new food "thing" in STL, which THANK GOD, because the previous hipster thing was deviled eggs and I came across one once that was fucking carbonated and that was traumatic enough to have me eat at KFC/McDonalds/Pizza Hut - whatever - until the end of my days.

Carbonated deviled eggs? I don't even understand what this means.
It was FIZZY. God, don't make me talk about it. It was so awful.

Oooooh Gus's. I ate there when I lived in Memphis, so good. I didn't realize they were branching out and now I know there's one in the Detroit area too.

I don't know what you would do miso but I gagged a little, complained loudly to my husband and have since boycotted that restaurant and all others with deviled eggs on the menu, just to be safe.
It's funny you posted this today. Just this morning the commercial came on and I told DH it looked gross because there looked to be too much batter
I have never had KFC. I always want to try it. There's one a couple of towns over but I'm never there around lunch time.
I did go to one in Memphis though. DH was starving and those bowls just came out and he wanted one. I think they look disgusting. So, we stopped there, he ate and I sat there just pouting, lol.
Yeah, sometimes when I drive by KFC, I can smell it cooking and almost taste it.
Those way too smooth mashed potatoes and gravy? SWOON. Corn on the cob in its own little buttery bag...
From birth until probably my early 20s, KFC gravy was the only kind of gravy I liked on mashed potatoes. Or anything else. Now I embrace all kinds of gravy.

No! Those bowls are delicious!
The whole mixing of everything grosses me out. I admit that I have a problem with certain textures.
