I ran a half marathon as part of my final 20 miler for this training cycle. A member of my BGR group snapped this pic of me. It was 5 miles into the race, but 12 into my run, and I don't know that I've ever felt that strong that far into a long run. I love it so much!
My H's work schedule is about to get crazy and I'm trying to figure out my new routine. I am thankful I have a teenager to help me out with my little one when I need it like tonight when I go running.
I ran 11 miles yesterday and my pace has me set to PR my next half. I am so excited about it!
@barefoorbarosta I agree with take it one day at a time. Are you planning to do a race? Once you do that I think it will get better and you may get addicted!!
skwcm80 I'm running Long Beach (CA) next month. It's the third and final race in the beach cities series.

I baked 2 loaves of banana bread and made 18 lemon poppy seed muffins for H so he has snacks on the go for work and school. I made everything Saturday afternoon and my Sunday morning there was half a loaf left and maybe 10 muffins. I had none.
The only time I've seen changes in my body is when I've ran (slowly) and done yoga. I feel better about myself afterwards, but I do not enjoy it
Years ago, one of my best gfs went to live on an ashram. She came out of there so lean I am still talking about it today. It was unbelievable to me to watch someone's body transform that way. That and the "Can You Guess Her Age" articles in Essence are the only reasons I do yoga. It's okay, but I don't enjoy it the way I enjoy spin, for example. But I don't see spin helping me the way yoga could if I would go more often. Twice a week is basically my max for yoga and I prefer to go once lol.
After the last few weeks of discussion here and then something I posted to FB today, I can see why POC prefer to only be friends with other POC. I need more brown friends

I like the effects of yoga (leaner, less achy), but it's boring. And I always feel like the true yoga people in the class are judging me because I'm busy remembering to breathe correctly instead of connecting spiritually or whatever lol.
My other yoga story is that two teachers showed up to the class I went to yesterday. Both white girls named Becky/Becks.

This is why I only do power yoga. Hot yoga bores me so much and I hate stretching.

IT has had my computer for 3 hours. 😡😡😡 I am so busy and they told me 30-40 minutes. Omg. I could have went and done my nails instead of sitting here doing nothing.

I do hot yoga and I have fallen asleep during savasana. If they're watching me nap, they need to do better.
I like doing yoga classes but at home it's boring. I've only ever attended them when it was offered at my CF gym though and it felt great after a CF workout.

That's amazing! I'm in awe of runners. I've just started couch to 5k and I don't really enjoy it, lol.
Running gives me the opposite of inner peace. While I'm doing it and for hours afterwards all I wanna do is pick a fight with someone and fuck them up. lol
I like yoga and weights because they don't make me mad while I'm doing them. Dancing is on the list, but it's more hit and miss. I love to swim, but it is near impossible to do between pool availability, my work schedule and other responsibilities.
I started playing in a women's soccer league tonight. I've been playing coed for the past 10+ years since college, so I was excited to play in an all-women's league.
And guess what? Of course my team seems to be the only team that doesn't have any other women of color ugh. The team we played tonight had at least 3. The world is conspiring against me! Plus, I think I might be one of the older people on the team. They all seemed like mid 20 year olds and wanted to go out for a beer afterwards. I'm down for having a good time, but wasn't feeling it, dammit. But at least we won...and I scored a goal!

skwcm80, look at you!! Awesome just awesome! kicks, yay! For scoring a goal! Hope you enjoy the league. raangoli, no Bueno! Forming friendships is tough.
The 90s are back hardcore based on my teenager's style right now. I have done quite a few double takes lately.
Yes. I keep seeing chockers everywhere and I'm in awe. I almost looked to see if mine were still at my mom's house last night for my niece.
My random is that the internet at my job is horrible lately. Basically from 11-3 I can barely connect, the wifi on my phone/ipad doesn't work and its affecting my ability to do my job.
All you runners are amazing. My doctor basically told me that my feet cannot handle running anymore and unless it was a passion (IT IS NOT) I should give it up. I was only doing it because I liked the results.
My MIL is crazy. She has no filter and she is too old for that. Or maybe she has no filter because she is too old. IDK. She was asking me about our move and I said it was going slower than H had hoped because he doesn't have as much help as he thought he would. Her response is that his friends are probably jealous of our new house. WTF. She obviously has no idea how these people live so why would she make that assumption. I mean yes be proud of your son, but it isn't like he/we are doing soooo much better than everyone else. And then she calls me on my ride home to apologize for her comment and to please not tell H about it. I can do nothing but roll my eyes at this woman.
05heel (or anyone else), how did you get involved with your local BLM chapter? I tried emailing mine several months ago and then again a few weeks ago, but no response. When I looked a few weeks ago there were no local events to attend either. So any insider knowledge on how to get involved?
I've started volunteering with planned parenthood but was thinking that BLM and/or the ACLU would be other organizations I want to volunteer with as well, but haven't had much luck with being able to get involved.
I'm kind of in love with it for someone else lol. My husband can use a new travel overnight for work right now, but they won't start shipping until next year. So, if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!Save
