Man, I don't generally have anxiety, but DH travels frequently, and those "what ifs" get me too when he's OOT. Add in everything else on her plate and of course it can be overwhelming. So many good ideas in here.
Are they Norfolk area or northern VA? If they're NoVA, I can track down Naval District Washington info.
They're in Suffolk. :/
She was released yesterday afternoon. The doctor thinks it's a virus that led to vertigo. My mother says my sister suffered from this a few years ago and it kicked her ass for a few months, so we're hoping it's similar but not as intense as it hit my sister. Her husband will be headed out eventually but I don't know when. His mom (retired Air Force, so she knows the ins and outs of navigating the system) will fly out if she's needed while he's out. (This is one of those times I wish that I was empty-nesting so I could just fly out and not worry about school and things like that.)
Ditto the above posters that mentioned the FRG. There are probably other military families that live the Suffolk or even the Suffolk side of Norfolk and that would be a good way to get in touch with them. That area of Virginia is pretty saturated with military families and veterans organizations.
I would recommend taping a list of emergency numbers to the fridge as well as the street address of the home and any medications you or the kids are taking (and dosages) (or keep that handy).
