Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years
No hosting. I'll make dressing for Thanksgiving
Yup, we're traveling. North for Thanksgivimg and South for Christmas and New Years.
My dad is probably the only one we'all do actual gifts for. Everybody else will get money, and that number dwindles every year
Not sure about decorating. If I bring home all of my mother's Black Santas and other Christmas decorations, I'll decorate. Otherwise, it'll depend on how I feel.
What are you celebrating this year? Just Thanksgiving and Christmas
Are you hosting anything? If so, details--how many, what's on your menu, etc? Are you traveling? We're 'traveling' to see my favorite cousin ( on H's side)- she just bought a house wanted to host T'giving but with just her family (of 4) along with me, and H. Works for me! I'm letting her pick the menu, and I'll handle sides and dessert. She said she'll handle the turkey.
We're headed out for our vacation next week and won't be back until the week of Thanksgiving. Nothing like doing some heavy cooking while battling jet lag!
Doing any gift giving? Holiday cards? Decorating? We are in the process of house hunting so I'm not really in the mood to decorate this year- knowing it'll just add to what I have to pack up. We will definitely be doing cards, though.
Most of our nieces and nephews having been asking for $ the past few years for gifts, which ios boring (yet easy). Luckily, we have enough close friends who have little kids so we can still buy gifts. I know what I will buy H, but won't get it until after Thanksgiving. No real reason...just good old fashioned procrastination.
What are you celebrating this year? Thanksgiving, Christmas. DD's birthday is December 28th so I include in my list.
Are you hosting anything? If so, details--how many, what's on your menu, etc? Are you traveling? Not hosting either holiday. I haven't decided if we're going to take friends up on their Thanksgivibg invitation, or stay home by ourselves.
My family have an unspoken understanding that we spend Christmas with our inlaws (if it applies), so we end up doing a big brunch and lazing around the house playing with our new toys.
Doing any gift giving? Holiday cards? Decorating? I hate decorating and I'm a Christmas grinch. I wait until the very last minute to put up the tree, just so there is somewhere to put gifts. I take the kids to see Santa, and we put together a gingerbread house. That's all I can take. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday.
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and DH and my birthday in November.

My friends and I usually co-host a Christmas party and occasionally a NYE party. We used to have it at my house all the time but now a friend lives in a more central location so we'll likely use her house. The parties are usually 20-30 people with heavy apps. I'll try a random pinterest recipe. We'll also have the traditional Black party foods: chicken wings, cheese dip in a crock pot (I call this chili con queso but people here call it rotel), little smokies, and a veggie tray that's barely touched. We'll play dirty Santa which will include a couple of nice gifts, some candles and lotions, and a few raunchy gifts. Inevitably, someone will take home a vibrator. It's a klassy event.

Christmas is basically spent in the car. We drive to see the ILs 2 hours away on Christmas Eve. Then drive home so we can have Christmas morning at home. We get up early Christmas morning, do gifts, and then drive 4 hours to my family in time for dinner. I absolutely hate the driving we do but it's the best way to keep all the parents happy.

We buy for DD, each other, our parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. I also have an aunt and 3 cousins that I buy gifts for. DH and I are each responsible for our individual family so that lowers the stress but it's expensive as hell. Before DD, I spoiled my nieces and nephews but now I have to cut back. Thankfully they're older so a couple of outfits makes them happy.
I love to do tacky Christmas decorations so there's no color coordination or theme and I put up whatever I like. This is how my mom decorated when we were kids and it screams festive to me. My MIL's decor is all pink and cream. It seems so sterile to me. Sure it's pretty but it's not fun. I've put some fall and Halloween decorations out but they don't move me like my Christmas stuff.
