no official time here but it starts around dusk and tapers off around 8. There are normally a few teens still out after that so I dump all of the candy in their bags at that point and turn off the light.

I usually try to go at dusk. I tried waiting for full dark before but it gets to be too late for my littles. If more than two people come to our house before we leave I feel like we're late.
But I also live in an area where last year some parents moaned and groaned that their precious would get sick from the drizzle/mist going on, and the city declared Nov 1st last year as a make up Halloween TOT day. LOL many of us turned off our lights on the 1st and ate all of our extra candy. My best memories as a kid was trick or treating in the rain and/or wearing sweatpants and a winter coat with my costome.
