I found a black owned massage and yoga studio! I'm definitely going to check it out.
I'm more committed than ever to support minority owned businesses. I don't shop that much, but I go to a lot of restaurants and wellness type places, so I'm going to make a list this weekend of places to visit in the near future.
My american express bill is about to go up this month lol. Found another monthly prescription box, it ships you a box each month of items from black owned businesses.
Oh and did anyone notice the "Million Woman March" happening in Jan. But far as I can tell there is no mention of the ORIGINAL million woman march back in 1997 which of course was organized by us.

Of course there's no acknowledgement of the original
Ok, I've sprung in to action, I'm feeling good. I feel like I'm having a black power weekend, throws fist in air lol.
Today I'm going to see the black moving Moonlight, then going to this story telling event in which men of color have written letters to their dads. I'm going to plan to have dinner at an ethiopian or middle eastern restaurant.
I tried to schedule my massage at the black owned massage place I found, but they didn't have anything until next weekend, so I scheduled that for next weekend.
And tomorrow afternoon I'm going to the African dance class.
I also got in the mail info about an organization that focuses on black women's reproductive health and rights, clearly right down my alley! So I need to look up more info about that because they have a chapter here in Philly. I definitely plan to donate.
meshaliuknits Well following up to say that I went to the african dance class. It was really fun! I'm glad I went. The teacher was from Guinea Bissau. I plan to go back in the future. It made me miss being in S Africa and had me yearning to be around "my people" even though I don't technically know who my people are.
I think this has solidified that next year I'm definitely going to continue to travel to non-european countries. I want to take every opportunity I can to be exposed to non-white cultures.
