We're going to need the locals to tell us where to be. We're staying at The Whit. How long before the race should we be in place?

OK. So DH and I planned our spectating route. We're going to attempt to bring the baby with us (he may ditch out partway through if it doesn't go well). I highly recommend downloading the app from their website - it has worked really well in the past. The text message updates are hit or miss. Our route is going to be:

1st spot: Jackson at Plymouth (north side of the road) - just after mile 2
2nd spot: Adams and Desplaines (on the south side of Adams) - just after 13.1
walk to Blue line at Clinton. Take blue line to red line Cermak stop
3rd spot: on Wentworth west of Cermak and set up wherever there is room. This area is insane
Take red line to Jackson and walk to the meetup area.

I am planning to get to the 1st spot between 7:00 and 7:10 and go from there.

Depending on who wants to see who and what pace people are running, the group will end up getting split up because people watching faster runners will need to move before the slower runners get to a certain spot (especially for people in early vs later corrals.

I am happy to have anyone meet up with us for spectating, the more the merrier! I will bring a sign of some sort I'm sure, but haven't planned it out yet. Can I get some idea of who/how many want to meet up, and what approx pace their runner is? It might be good to see how the group will break out to make sure no one ends up solo and everyone gets to see their runners.

jordylee , I'll spectate with you! I'll probably only see everyone at the first stop. Between paces & start times, C will be 1-1.5 hrs ahead of some people. I'll probably stick around the 2nd stop long enough to see hannahb & @cheshire & then head to the final spot. I think C is planning somewhere between 7:30-7:45. He's in corral B.

I was supposed to be in charge of Mr fuckyourcouch . I can get him to the start and stop 2, but maybe those sticking around longer can help him get to the final stop and the finish? There is concern of him winding up in Lake Michigan if he is left on his own to roam the city. LOL

Nah just blind, I'm always shocked when I spot someone at a race lol

My H and DS will be hanging with my cousin during the race, but I'd love to meet up with you all for beers and snacks after if there is a plan for that! I'll probably be the last of the H&F crew to finish, so you guys will probably be showered and rolling 3 beers deep by the time I cross the finish line

We'll get the beers in. Also, don't underestimate my ability to absolutely crumble in the heat. Why do you think I'm heading to Madrid on Monday? I'm proper terrified it's going to be too warm for me!

You and me both, girl! I'm a life-long New Englander and we've had a cool summer. For my first and only other marathon it was 30*F with snow flurries, which I'd take any day over the current outlook for Chicago!

Exactly - anything could happen, but honestly, I feel so relaxed about this race, knowing that I'm not shooting for any particular time. It will just be lovely to see you all  

Seriously, if it's warm, there will be a LOT of walking from me. And a lot of smiling.
